I know this thread is huge. I'm going to try and do a write up on the entire thing once it's done. There's no new pics, and I have to work on some customer's skeletons tomorrow, but Sunday looks nice for some more work. Can't wait to get my first check from Schwan's if everything works out good I'll be able to spend $1000 on this project then! Thanks for all the great ideas. I've been searching the web for spray on liners now, but I think it's basically all the same as what I plan on using just I'm rolling it on cause I'm too poor to have someone spray it!

My new job is Schwan's food delivery. I do the skeletons of people's fish/pets, or just animals they want on the side to fund this tank build. I'm not allowed to use any other money. Only money other than what I make at my job can I use on this.

I drilled holes through the side about 3" deep, and used #8 3" screws and butted them together with subfloor adhessive between each board. I figure it will be pretty stout. I've priced out the heater, acrylic, gate valves, epoxy, and gelcoat. comes out to around $1000 with shipping for the whole sha-bang. Hopefully I can get approval from the wife to go ahead on it!!! keep your fingers crossed for me guys!

So last night my gorgeous wife let me buy all the stuff I needed for this minus the heater. Shipping costs came out a little more than advertised, but that's the name of the game. So I bought 5 gals of epoxy resin, 10 gals of gel coat, about a gallon of black dye for the gelcoat, 2 4' x 2' panes of acrylic at 1", 1 2' x 2' 1" acrylic, then 3 pieces of 2' x 4' at 1/8" for the top, and one will be cut in half. I also purchased 2 gate valves that will mount flush with the back of the tank. I think that's everything for now. I'll still have to buy some more plywood, and barrels, ect before I can call it complete, but this is the major stuff that I need to get it ready for a fill test, and I have everything to get 1/2 of the filtration ready to go. I'm happy!!!

Yup, and I have enough money saved up in my change jar, and from my side jobs that I can probably get the rest of the plywood!!! Time to kick this into high gear(or as soon as I get everything)! I got free shipping on the marine epoxy, and gelcoat, so that's like about 17 gals of materials being shipped for free! That's amazing. My total for the epoxy/gelcoat/tint=537.50 shipped! My total for the acrylic=497.30, and the total for the two gate valves=41.70

Total spent this time around=$1076.50

This brings my overall total to around $2000, but that's not exact on the overall, could be a little more or a little less than that, but it's close. Anyone know how much an average 2"x4"x8' weighs? I'm trying to calculate everything for this build. Weight of materials used, and overall weight. Then an overall price for all materials used broken down into price for each item and how many pieces were used.
