1st time sump opinions needed

Jaws, it's your call on the valves. But when it comes to the "real" implementation, and you are using the Herbie, you will want to use a gate valve on the primary. I also say use unions so that you can easily disassemble as needed. No need for both gate valve and ball valve. Eshopp or not, done right the drain will siphon.

I look forward almost as much as you now hahaha

Hahah yeah i guess its stupid to put any valve but even dumber to put both gate and ball so will only put one.. I guess i just wanna play ahaha. Will definitly put unions. I camt wait to start the herbie.

Everything was delivered tonight just gotta get the plumbing

Thats the 20 gal im using for the sump. The foam is left over poret foam from the 2262. May try and use some in the sump we'll see. More than likely i wont be using baffles but may make a foam baffle just cuz i have the foam

Messing around with the oeverflow and the pump. The bulkhead for the over flow is 1.5 inches ahould i use 1 inch plumbing from the pump to the tank or is 3/4 ok ?

Also what is the small tube coming out of the pvc in the over flow for ?

I don't know what the tube could be for, but others who have more experience there may know. Miller may know since he has the eshopp?

The bulkhead for the overflow meaning for the drain pipe? The bulkhead will dictate the the size drain pipe there.

For the return, what is the outlet size on the Jebao pump? Let's say it's 1.5", I would just use 1.5" PVC, split with T, and use 3/4" braided tube or PVC and connect with 3/4" loclines for dual returns. If you connect PVC to tube, you can use barb fittings with plastic clamps or zipties for additional hold.

The pump is 1.5 inches threaded but also has barbed adapters for 3/4, 1 inch and sohmething else

Eheim.com n they have a tech # that u can call... If they can't be reached u can even leave a message on their system.. or email them directly.. about the strainer part.. I have one in my parts doing nothing.. who ever want it PM..

I missed what type of overflow you are going with if it's a hob overflow I used rubber abs couplings to hold the pvc in placejus so I can re use the bulkheads for my bean animal overflow

As for the driving 1.5 hours to have everything look the same I do the same thing or end up paying 3-5 dollars a fitting more to have them all look the same. It drives my girlfriend nus!

Millwerkid I didn't know they make those fitting that small of sizes.. I would love to add that for my setup so I don't have to waste 4 bulkheads when I need to change or move my tank...

That section of the overflow box will be filled with water. That piece of PVC acts as a standpipe for water to drain through. I like to cut them down a little bit at a 45* angle to cut down on noise.

Thx shook 1.5 coming out of the overflow. Should i do 1 inch from the pump to the tank ? Or 3/4 or tee off two 3/4 returns

Was wrong about the plumbing. Luckily i took the pump and overflow bulk head with me. So plumbing going from the overflow to the sump is gonna be 1.25 and from the pump to the tank 3/4

Is that ok ?

Shookones i meant this little plastic tube thats attached to the inside of the pvc that came with the overflow.

I got a dry mock up of the plumbing for the pump done. I didnt think i needed to install a valve because im going to leave room in the sump to handle back flow, unless you guys think other wise.

A few questions
The siphon break in the return is 1/2 inch below water level ? How big of a hole do i drill ?

Do you guys just hand tighten the unions or wrench them ? Need for the plumbers tape ?
