250g stocking

Idea 1: 1 Oscar, 1 Striped Raphael Catfish, and/or a smaller bichir species like a Senegal.
Potentially not a good idea keeping an Oscar and senegal bichir together as the Oscar will outgrow the bichir and possibly try to eat it resulting in the possible death of one or both of them.

As someone that’s done it, a sen and an Oscar is definitely a bad idea. It worked for me only because I saw the impending doom and rehomed the Oscar before it happened.

Do you think a 12” Turkana senegal would work with a full grown Oscar? I know finwin’s Oscar is like 14” so the Turkana wouldn’t be to much different size length wise than a full size Oscar.

around LA
Oh ok, I was gonna say head over to Petzonesd in San Diego, but it would probably be easier to order online cuz of the time and gas. Be careful with Aqua Imports though. I’ve ordered a few times from them and some were great but the last time 3 hujeta arrived covered in ich and the sizes were off by a good 1.5-2”

alright, given the information by you all and some more in depth research I did, I think I should be able to keep 3-4 kelberi bass (1m/3f), a sailfin pim and probably 2-3 gymnothorax polyuradon. is there anything wrong in this stock?

The problem I had was getting food to the poly without over feeding the tank. I was able to do it, but it wasn’t easy. The other issue that would concern me is even with the length, if the Oscar is looking head on at a poly, it might look small enough to attempt to eat. I had a 7” Oscar attempt to eat a 6” brown knife

I plan on buying the smallest size and having them grow up together, I don't think the sizes should be too consequential, should I buy the eel at larger sizes so they don't get preyed on easily? currently I'm going to be custom ordering my gymnos and peacock bass from a lfs, I might not be able to get the sailfin pim locally so ill get that from aqua imports.

I’ve never kept that type of eel, but from my experience with oscars I know the eel shape can be problematic.
Hopefully someone with more experience with those will chime in
