That male is huge! I think a lot of zoos need to learn what sp. actually live in the Amazon lol. Often these "Amazonia" themed exhibits have CA cichlids. They are usually red devils or midas though.
ahh ok thanksThis is at the National Zoo (Amazonia Exhibit).
The National Aquarium in Baltimore is huge and open (just did a big renovation). The smaller National Aquarium branch (in DC...in the Department of Commerce building) is closing.
Matt
funnyApparently they will take them to the other aquarium in town in a cup and dump them into the exhibits...

The record fish was 13 lbs these people have caught fish over 18 lbs everyone doesnt fish for records.
What you mean is there is no photo of them being weighed or measured? No photo is different to them not being. Get that through your head!

I went to the National zoo last year to see these Dovii in person and I can tell you they are giants. I have owned two Dovii over the years that got to the 18 inch mark and an Umbee that was just over 21 inches and I can tell you that that the Dovii at the the National zoo are way bigger in comparsion. I would be shocked if the largest Dovii i saw that day was any less than 26 inches. pckts I have been on this forum for years and have no interest in getting in a pissing match with you or anyone else for that matter but that silly website that you keep referring to does not mean their are not much larger fish from each species out their that you mention. Not ever fisherman out their is interested in killing a world record size fish. On the show "Hunt for the big fish" the host Larry Dalberg a highly respected fisherman caught a peacock bass that was 43 inches long and weighed over 30 pounds which he released alive. If a fisherman is way out in the jungles of the Amazon and the the closest certified scale is days away you may still opt out of keeping a world record size fish when you are on day 2 of a 7 day trip that cost 5000+ dollars and travel to get to this point. Again Larry is not interested in records but their may be some very good reasons why some one who catches a record size fish chooses not to go though the trouble to have it certified. Im just saying.........
Any news regarding measurements? You dont just see it through a glass u can go upstairs and look directly down in the water at it. I have a 2 foot fish at home and looking at this fish through the glass and directly in the water he looks bigger than my fish. Everyone has different guesses my problem was with the guy who never saw the fish in persons and says its impossible because a fishing website told him so. I have recently spoke with someone at the zoo and she wants me to send her a email so she can forward it to someone to get a acurate measurment so im done with this thread unless i get a answer back.
