I would like to not that the jag link posted was of a 20" specimen and I don't think in aquaria if a male has EVER reached that size. Not a Good comparison lol

Why are you guys arguing over sizes? Face is you, me and everyone on here don't know the size of this dovii. Under water and with a thick glass everything is magnify. You can easily estimate a fish in a home aquarium because it's right there and the glass is thinner then 2". You can't guess a fishes size under a magnifying glass so why sweat it.

It was a great comparison because the dovii at the zoo is way bigger than that fish.
You dont just see it through a glass u can go upstairs and look directly down in the water at it. I have a 2 foot fish at home and looking at this fish through the glass and directly in the water he looks bigger than my fish. Everyone has different guesses my problem was with the guy who never saw the fish in persons and says its impossible because a fishing website told him so. I have recently spoke with someone at the zoo and she wants me to send her a email so she can forward it to someone to get a acurate measurment so im done with this thread unless i get a answer back.
Some people has to think, sometimes living things grower larger then there suppose to be. If you we're to ask any one in the 1800 if human are capable of reach 7ft, they'll say you're crazy. But does it happen yeah all the time now. Record breaking fish doesn't mean it's the max for the fish, it just mean its the largest ever written down.

This is at the National Zoo (Amazonia Exhibit).
The National Aquarium in Baltimore is huge and open (just did a big renovation). The smaller National Aquarium branch (in DC...in the Department of Commerce building) is closing.

TRUE all these fish are from the same lake as the world record fish and wouldnt be considered because they were speared and not caught on rod n reel. The record fish was 13 lbs these people have caught fish over 18 lbs everyone doesnt fish for records.
Apparently they will take them to the other aquarium in town in a cup and dump them into the exhibits...
