300 gallon tank - the project begins!

Thats how I tried to do mine...the easy way with no crazy ball valves and pvc all over.

That is a nice reactor but I dont really have room for one of those. The last of my floor space is going to be for 2 trash cans for top off water. So what I was going to use was a small Kent unit that was 60 bucks but it came in broke. And I found another one that looks to be the same as the kent unit but can be had for 35 bucks. For that price im going to buy 2 and fill one with phos stuff and one with carbon.

That is one of the reactors I am considering for my 55 and 210. I think I mentioned in one of our previous posts how I don't have room for my top off containers under my 300 now. It's amazing how much room a 75 gallon sump, two reeflo pumps, and a dual chamber media reactor take up. :)

I am probably going to put mine under my 210 and run hose from it to the 300. It won't be visible due to the way the two tanks are positioned.

Yeah you right!!!I used to have this for a 280 reef I was going to setup...never got to see it running :(

Now that is pretty! I had a lot of pretty toys for my reef but I didn't have a skimmer of that caliper. As much as I loved the way my sps reef tank looked I certainly did not like having so many components on shelves outside of the stand. I had two reactors outside of my tank (including calcium reactor and CO2 tank) plus my top off container, ballasts, and a few other things. I think the components got more attention than the actual tank. :D

For 35 bucks you cant go wrong if you ask me...even comes with a flow valve. The kent unit at twice the price doesnt come with a valve! And its 35 on championlighting site but i have made aquacave price match before...only 5 bucks but still...

I was originally going to build a sump out of a 75gal glas tank I got from GC. But I left it on my garage floor and slid it around. That netted me a nice crack on the bottom corner and I didnt feel safe useing it. So I went the route I did now and im glad I did because a 75 wouldnt have fit at all and I still have 2 spots left for a nice tall trashcan full of water :D

It's pretty bad, I'm not real sure where I am even going to put the different pieces of the controller. I'm sure I can find room somewhere though. :)

I am mounting mine on the side walls and running the wire on the top inside the stand....like right under where the tank sits so its kinda out of view. Thats also why I returned my reflo cuda and got internal mag drives to save that room. I have 2 xp3's the sump and 2 trashcans. Its going to be tricky to fig out the spot for the 35w UV.

WOW, simply wow! I really don't know what else to say about this reactor and media. I am amazed at how much my tank has cleared up in under 24 hours. It really is a night and day difference. There are no tanins in my water at all and just a little cloudiness left. I can't wait to see how my tank looks in a week.

I would have no problem recommending this set up to anyone. Say what you want but this setup works. I'm sure there are other ways to do the same thing but this one works just fine for me.
