  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well Oscars aren't really abused here in Holland since most of the time they are only available in stores that are specialised in cichlids, so dumb people don't buy them.
Buy yea goldfish, plecos etc are available to every dumbass.

Good that you did as I don't recall seeing this before. It should be an interesting read when I get around to it.

Aggreed. All of my bettas get their own 3 gallon aquarium with complete filtration. I hate to see people buy the bettas and keep them in small decorative pos tanks just cuz the tank looks cool.

Back when I had them, my Betta was in a 150 litre tank with tetras, gouramis, peacock gudgeons and some loaches.

I read the first few pages and didnt see it... ID sharks... Every petstore around me seems to have them, they are usually onl an inch big, sold as SHARKS because the KINDA swim like one... So people love them, have them for a year and realize how BIG the thing has gotten and try to get rid of it.

kinda swim like a shark? they swim like any other fish

I also think balas should be on there, Around here I always see the little ones nagging mummy for a few sharks not considering/knowing how large they get.

The list is pretty spot on though, I think with oscars its because when you go into most lfs they have a few grown ones living in 2-3 foots, very rarely I see them in a decent sized tank, people look @ how playful they are and want to buy one thinking the tank size is fine.

Wow, interesting read for my first foray into the forum lol. I would say everyone could probably come up with a unique list but my pet peeve would be any fish that had to be altered by humans either genetically or by dye or injection. Bad enough they are grown in bad condition but to have abnormal shapes bred into them or artificially colored just makes them that much more miserable.
