50G Aquascape 3.0

^ LOL, im sure she would be happy messing with it, as long as it doesnt require her maintaining the actual tank itself...

100% better than no interest at all. Clipping plants is not even a little bit fun ime.

True, im happy that she doesnt complain and does enjoy helping out from time to time when she feels like it...

Just a quick update since the big trim...

The darker reds are starting to build back up and tanks looking quite christmas themed...

Finally caved in today and bought myself a new LED light fixture for this tank due to the fact T5-HO bulbs are hard to find unless i goto China which i dont intend to...

The fixture is a Zetlight ZT6400 thats fully programmable in time per phase of lighting 5 total (dusk-sunrise-day-sunset-night) / color / intensity...

Going to have to mess around with it a bit to work out best color combinations etc, but just wanted to show the difference between when i had the T5-HO on there, and the new 200W LED system with all levels on max...

Traditional T5-HO

200W LED on max everything

When on max everything it was literally so bright my phone had to readjust the camera which is why it looks darker in the pic...

Should look nice without as much purple. How much do one of those bad boys run you? High end LEDs are expensive and low end are so cheap here

I've seen them on some websites for around USD $450... i paid a little more, but then buying from any brick and mortar shop you expect to have to pay extra...

The light itself when viewed in person has very little purple, but after the iphone adjusted its color balance it came out like that lol... one day will take another pic with just max on white light and see how it looks...

What a beautiful tank @Fat Homer.

Really, what a stunning tank. I love an aquascape. It's like the polar opposite to large messy cichlids that tear up plants. If I could ever bare to have a tank without monsters in, I'd love to do this. Beautiful <3

Thank you very much for your kind words... it took a while to fine tune but eventually got there, now with these new lights the mission begins to find the perfect balance for each mode to maximize color without growing crazy algae...
