700 + Aquarium Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Went to home depot earlier to buy some electrical stuff, and I found out that I have an old style panel and the breaker is no longer available. I will have to add a sub panel, which is a good idea since besides the basement renovation this will give me room for expansion, like a hot tub on the deck and air conditioning (next project :D)

Well thats how many discus I have right now but maybe in 2-3 months I'll be taking out some of the runts and we'll see how many will be left. But they won't be fewer than 25. The ABS sheet comes in 4X8 feet. I bought them for $27 each and they're 1/16" thick. I originally thought of acrylic but when I saw this being tougher and only half the price of acrylic I went for it. I get the goop from work. I buy them at the price the company gets them, $47 a box of 12 tubes, but they're the same thing as the household, plumbers, or marine GOOP that you can get at wallmart. I actually used household goop on my first tank(settling tank), it's the cheapest but probably marine is teh best. Here's a pic of the goop that I used.

Oh yeah! on my 1/16" just slide a blade on a ruler a couple of times, about 1/4 of the thickness cut, fold the abs sheet and it will break. I think HD also have them, wallmart might be cheaper though.

ok thnaks. srry i also ment can you get abs sheets ther too.

Why not just use ABS glue? It actually melts the ABS and as it dries the ABS components melt together making a water tight bond.

I doubt it, our HD here has only acrylic its more popular than ABS. Check your glass, aluminum, window or plastic supplier/service center in your yellow pages give them a call.

They're both abs but the funny thing is abs glue doesn't stick as good on the sheet. Another thing is silicone sticks well to abs pipes but it doesn't stick to abs sheet :screwy:
