The acceptable GPH flow rate is any where between 4 to 10 times the volume of the tank. Don't forget to consider the head loss of your pump if water has to go up. But I don't believe that higher GPH means better filtering there's more to it than flow rate, but of course with the same sat up a tank with higher flow rate will filter better.

Finished my electrical sub panel and all the electricals of the fish tank room. Installed 9 lights, including sump lights for plants, 8 power outlets including 2 with switches on them. willbe putting LED lights on this 2 outlets for moonlight and other color effects of the fish tank. opened 2 - 15amp electric circuits for all these loads. I also did a lot more. Will be updating pics when I get my camera back.

I just noticed though... with all that time into your lovely artificial rock background... I hope you're planning on doing something with the bare lumber showing at the front!

You mean having dry wall around it and putting oak trims / frame around the tank???!! WHY??? WHAT'S THE POINT????
