cheers satan, once again, top bloke and very helpful. had a butcher's at the link, been following some of nolapete's pages for a awhile, the guy def knows his stuff.

i had thought about folding the corners back on themselves, just wasn't too sure on how.

No news on the jardini/pics, think i'm gonna text the bloke again and be a pest, i wanna KNOW that fish went to a good home.

had a phone call back from the LFS today, because the woman in there was not A OK about her calculations, i went in there friday but the manager was not about, turns out my quote was a little miscalculated. 1.0mm butyol liner, just to cover the filter box generously would be £157, not loads but to do the tank as well, it's getting on for £600 with haggling. don't mean to keep chopping and changing my mind, but i'd rather spend another £140 ish to get another five litres of A1 pond paint and give it a week between coats (2 coats) then, if that doesn't work i guess i won't have any more options. once again it feels two steps forward and one back. Rome wasn't built in a day though hey!
Confused as to how your liner's are going to cost so much actually matey. My liner cost about £80 brand new off the roll if i remember rightly, it definately wasn't a 3 figure sum. It's a very good liner and even if you doubled up on it in the tank itself for extra fish chewing protection it wouldn't cost anywhere near what you've been quoted.

How soon could you start accomodating more fish and are you interested in my 6x2x2 before i start offering it out in other places? Looks like i'm going to have to loose all my fish before i emigrate and would prefer them to go to an MFK home than an LFS:(

you're emigrating, where you off to then, sunnier climes? I did think it was pricey, they do have pvc liner but i didnt think much to it because it didn't seem felxible at all, i have not shopped around yet so they may just be very highly priced or something, i don't know.

I don't have the small tank anymore now, had it on permanent loan from a mate for years and he's took it back now, so until i can get the big one done i cant house any fish :( sorry mate :( and i don't really have the room to have the 6x2x2. not much use am i!

Been thinking, the tank has a 2" 'frame' internally for the glass to but up to, is this enough, especially at the bottom? ordering some more A1 epoxy pond paint this week, to give it two more coats, if that ends up not holding then i must be doing something seriously wrong and will give liner a go, after shopping around a bit more.

If your going to pay £600 for a liner then you may as well get it fibreglassed,my 9x4.5x 32" high will cost me £450 and thats from the bloke who does all wharfs stuff and comes highly recommended, and had that tank he did in that lads basement which was in pfk a while back.
£600 does seem veeeeeeeeery expensive.

And wheres the satans off to?

A sunnier place that doesn't drink as much fosters as the adverts would have you believe. That's the plan anyway. Interest you in any of my fish Steve?;)

I have just found this thread. Haven't read all the detail yet. Cool to see a large tank in the UK. I wish I had made one or two larger tanks rather than the multiply tanks I have.

If you still haven't solved the liner issue have you looked at liquid rubber. It is now available in the UK. www.liquidrubbergb,.com I have seen an example of it being used for this purpose somewhere on here before.

thanks for the advice, thanks to nolapete too, you've both posted the web page for liquid rubber in the uk, cheers guys.

I'm going to get some more A1 pond epoxy paint, give it two more generous coats and try again. After reading nolapete's and some other threads i think i really under estimated just how many coats of any epoxy etc. it was gonna need :screwy:
