hi steve, its not leaking 'again', i have only rubbed the filter down in anticipation of more epoxy next week. was just thinking, if i lined it out with a whole piece of pond liner, especially the tank, used a silicone that will go off underwater, like MS POOL, made by windsor wurth to stick it to the 'walls and base, bond the joint between the filter and tank? after the filter leaking twice, i'm not confident, think i must be doing something wrong???? i rub it down between coats like it says, perhaps it just needs alot longer to completely cure, but again i left it long enough according to the bottles.

just think that perhaps a liner, being 'as one' already would eliminate the possibility of leaks at the joints?

still waiting to hear on glass price, i have not chased him up because its not ready yet.

could i not just scrap the epoxy idea, i'm loosing confidence again, instead use a good quality pond liner on the tank and the filter? will the glass silicone etc ok to the liner? i'm not bothered about it having the odd crease in it too.
Yeah go for it if you feel more confident with that. I'd use at least 2 liners though for safety if one of your fish decides to try and puncture it. Normal silicone is not good for sticking glass to liner, but I do fully recommend that black liner sealant i've used (expensive stuff in comparison but non toxic, doesn't smell, sets underwater if needed and sticks to anything.....especially fingers. Really get what you pay for there.) Also, got a folding technique off of Nolapete that i used on the blue tarp in mine that shows no folds or seams to help it look neater.

cheers mate, appreciate the advice. whats the folding technique about then? i'll start looking around the local fish shops for some pond liner prices then.

got prices on pond liner, they offer pvc or butyol? butyol seems a much better more flex product, plus its available in the sizes i would need. works out around 300 quid, two separate bits, one for tank and one for filter, then i can over lap the joint between tank and filter at the over flow, this is what i'm gonna do, works out give or take the same as loads of coats of epoxy (which i'm loosing faith in, only due to my own experiences) so hear goes...

cheers satan, once again, top bloke and very helpful. had a butcher's at the link, been following some of nolapete's pages for a awhile, the guy def knows his stuff.

i had thought about folding the corners back on themselves, just wasn't too sure on how.

No news on the jardini/pics, think i'm gonna text the bloke again and be a pest, i wanna KNOW that fish went to a good home.

had a phone call back from the LFS today, because the woman in there was not A OK about her calculations, i went in there friday but the manager was not about, turns out my quote was a little miscalculated. 1.0mm butyol liner, just to cover the filter box generously would be £157, not loads but to do the tank as well, it's getting on for £600 with haggling. don't mean to keep chopping and changing my mind, but i'd rather spend another £140 ish to get another five litres of A1 pond paint and give it a week between coats (2 coats) then, if that doesn't work i guess i won't have any more options. once again it feels two steps forward and one back. Rome wasn't built in a day though hey!
