Looking good, learn from the problems i had and try and avoid them!

Seriously though, if you need any help or inspiration i'm only just over the border and my build is very similar.

I might be going crazy (and i did just skim read it all rather than detail read) but i could have sworn you said 9x5x4 on the first page and it doesn't look that now? My build is 9x5x3 and often look and think it might have benefitted from an extra foot of depth.

Hi steve, well stock wise i have a blank page really, only fish i have at the mo is my Jardini just over a foot, i'm gonna relocate him with a friend or sell him on, i love the fish but can't keep anything with it so he's gotta go, if i had done a bit of research into their compatability then i would not have brought him/her.

What i would really like to keep is an asian arro and try a motoro, been reading up as much as i can on them and feel that's definately what i want to keep. Any suggestions, greatly received :grinno:

Hi there, been following your build, very interesting reading mate. has your finger healed up yet?! lol!

you're not going mad, i did start off building it to 9 foot long and was planning on putting the filter beside it or on top??!! (both were gonna be pretty ugly) so i decided to sacrifice the larger footprint and build the filter beside it, keeps the overall gallon capacity the same i suppose but definately makes the tank a WHOLE lot smaller :irked:

should haver built it wall to wall the other way on, could have been about fifteen feet long, but i would never had got in the summerhouse!!!

what's the link to your build?

Ha ha, finger's fine now, just a good scar on the end.

Here you go:

My original plan was for the filter beside too which is why it's 9ft and not the full 12ft of the room. But as its gone on i'm now going for all the filter on top so there's just one big area to water proof rather than lots of small fiddly bits. Not the prettiest look with large filters on top but it's always possible to build a fake wall to hide them or put some suitable Amazon jungle style plants in front to disguise them. (should have gone full 12ft!)

There's quite a few things on my current build that I wouldn't do again when i have to go larger and will probably just go with a huge fibreglass tub option and get a suitable specialist to glaze it next. Insulation is definately a good plan though. How much of a temperature swing do you get in your summer house?

thanks for the link, i'll keep following it now :)

temperature swing, i have not been monitoring it yet, good idea to though hey, it gets full sun on half of it all day, which may be good in winter but summer might be a problem, think im just banking on leaving all the windows and door open through the summer to keep it ventilated, the garden's secure enough and if any one fancies pinching the fish they gotta get past my wife's attack Chiuahua! (doubt i spelt that right).

you're messing with my head, maybe i should have put the filter on top and gone the nine foot across
