thanks for the link, i'll keep following it now :)

temperature swing, i have not been monitoring it yet, good idea to though hey, it gets full sun on half of it all day, which may be good in winter but summer might be a problem, think im just banking on leaving all the windows and door open through the summer to keep it ventilated, the garden's secure enough and if any one fancies pinching the fish they gotta get past my wife's attack Chiuahua! (doubt i spelt that right).

you're messing with my head, maybe i should have put the filter on top and gone the nine foot across
I did find in the winter even with the conservatory being attached to the house and having central heating in it got damned cold when we had all that snow and the heaters were on constantly (and my latest leccy bill definately suffered for 1200W on 24/7!) Now it's warming up i've knocked the heaters all back to 72f as a base precaution but the heat generated by the sun in the room is keeping it about 82f during the day dropping to 76f at night so you may not need much ventilation. I have one window locked open at about a 1/4inch so condensation doesn't build up which has proved very effective but still leaves the house secure. Just some food for thought for you.

As for size, suppose it all depends on what you fancy housing in it. If you like Aro's and bass then it's great, if you fancy something like an RTC then you'd need a bigger footprint. But don't let me make you change your mind;) 4ft depth is definately a good idea though. What idea's you got for a window?

Decided now, I want to keep an asian arro or two, if i can afford them! and try a motoro. Anu suggestions best place to go to look at the arro?

got the filter almost done today, well the shell is there and insulated, ran out of bloody ply :irked: so will get some more this afternoon. I can't believe how 'quick' its coming together, thought it would take me ages, guess that's what you get for being a bit obsessed with it :screwy:

Looking good.

There was a red asian at woodford aquatics at the end of the M11 last month at very reasonable price. The guy there sorts his fish imports himself so can normal get what's asked for. WaterZoo in Peterborough normal has an asian knocking about. St Albans Maidenhead Aquatics had a couple as well last time i was there but imho they're very overpriced.

Hmmmmm, window, i know a couple of window fitters so will get them to advice on strongest glass and go for thickest i can get i reckon. Thought about a sheet of acrylic, i know its stronger and lighter pound for pound, prob end up going for glass though

the good one at woodfords was £200 at about 6"

a mate was offered a red and green for £200 each not long ago on a private sale. Be careful though, there's seems to be a few fakers when it comes to internet sales of these fish.

The contract glass company i used to cut mine said the thickest they could do on glass was 25mm. That should be more than enough at 4ft deep. Hope you're feeling strong though.
