Arowana's extreme flexibility is not an excuse to keep it in a tank that's as wide as the fish is long. In my book. You can try and learn for yourself. Arowana swim all the time, never ever stop. They will not like the small space and will keep jumping until they jump out or injure or kill themselves.

2' arowana will not be happy in a 2' wide tank like 8x2x2, not in 8x2.5x2 either. Even 8x4x2 is barely adequate for a 2', too small for 3'. Try it and learn firsthand the hard way, I have no problem with it. Live and let live. Be prepared to rehome though, if you get lucky and the fish will grant you some time to accomplish just that.

Depends on species amigo, Asian aros will do just fine in those tank sizes.

Have you actually seen a 24” Asian arowana? I haven’t.

I have. A green that was 31" TL, with a tape measure on it, right after we landed it out of it's 96x28x40" tank with a salmon net. That was actually a comm tank, that among other fish had several Asian aros in it, some that were also in the 24-25" range. A 24" Asian aro is certainly not a record breaker.

So you're saying that the Jardini and the Asian Arowana will be fine in a 96 x 30 x 24?

You might remember him, Jib. Brett Boyd aka boydo. This was one of his other tanks, I believe 8x4x2. This aro was still young, but showing amazing potential at the time of the vid.

Just a shout out to my youngblood ex MFK buddy. Unfortunately Brett moved, and these tanks are no longer.

I remember boydo.

Must've hurt to have dismantled such a lovely setup.

I miss many of the old members we had.

Yep, I was there when the fish all came out to go to their new homes. Got a bit wet on that one.
