Predation hasn't been bad at all. Every now and then, something will get popped, but it happens with big set ups like this no matter what you do. All of the big predatory fish are used to hand feeding, so they wait to eat.
As for the breeding, we've seen a lot. They started pairing off almost right away. (The black pacu even spawned in holding!) If it is a species we are trying to work with, we'll pull the fry and raise them. If not, we'll trade off any that make it to other facilities to keep a good gene pool going.

Hey Matt, thanks again for showing us around. Like I said we'll have to do it again sometime. If any of you get a chance to come out and take a look at the exibit it'll be well worth it and if you get a chance to meet up with Matt it'll be even more a worth it. A very knowledgeable guys and equally as friendly. Thanks again.

Thanks for all the continued comments!
And seriously, anytime anyone want to see it up close and behind the scenes, let me know. I'm more than happy to come in on my day off (like I really get those). It's always fun to point out the little stuff that most miss when just walking in the tunnel.

As a side note, I made the news last night....but forgot to record it. They talked about the importance of the arapaima and conserving wildlife in general. When they brought the TV camera out, he came right down the to edge and stared at it. It's fun to watch him check stuff out. He's been very interactive since going on display last week.
