^ I'll be honest and say i doubt it will be too densely planted, unless i probably give in a buy a injection Co2 unit as the carpet is most likely not going to be as dense and full as it could be... but we'll see what happens in the next few weeks, since i may still give in and get a Co2 unit if i absolutely need to...

But yeah, the needle nose is a really cool fish, especially when you watch them eat... since the long "snout" like part is actually the lower jaw of the fish, and the upper jaw is pretty close to their eyes...

I think if you look closely at the picture above you can see where the upper jaw actually ends...

Well seen as some of my plants seem to be lacking luster when i came home today, i've decided to give in and will be getting a Co2 injection unit probably on wensdsday... So will update this thread and the progress changes with the plants once it setup...

-edit-

Forgot to mention this will be the first time i'm using a Co2 injection unit, so any advice / tips is welcome...

Also, what should the bubble count roughly be? Im guessing 1-2 bubbles a second?

I would also recommend a pH drop checker. I left my CO2 on all night by accident twice...first time, 1 out of 7 fish died and the second time 3 out of 12 survived. Shrimp survived both incidences.

^ thanks for the heads up, i completely forgot that Co2 will swing the PH balance...

So does that mean at the beginning it is a good idea to only keep it on for "x" amount of time and then turn it off again till the tank is used to having the extra Co2?

Coz i see or i should say hear a lot of people keep their Co2 on 24/7? But suppliment with an air pump during the time when the lights go off?

Which leads me to my next question, is it a bad idea to run an oxygen pump when the tank has Co2 being pumped in when the lights are on?

Sorry for all the questions but really want to try and get this right the first time...

No, it's fine to run it all day everyday, as long as the lights are on at the same time.

This is just a waste of co2.

Yeah, awful. The oxygen will thwart any efforts at properly diffusing the co2 into the water column (where it needs to be).

Sorry for all the questions but really want to try and get this right the first time...

Just make sure to get a co2 setup with a solenoid then run the co2 off of the same timer you run your lights on and you're golden.

What he said. A Solenoid will automatically shut off the CO2 once it hits a certain level. Not sure how it really works since I never gotten that deep into the whole CO2 thing. I'd like to, but a real CO2 system can be a money pit and for my little set up, I didn't think it would've been worth it.
