^ Sorry, here are the pics as promised... pretty much only of the shrimp atm, as the fish are zippy as hell... although will try and get some of the fish soon...
As for the needle nose pike... its an extremely small fish that only grows to about 5cm with really small mouths, so no problems there, but thanks for the concern
Anyway, on with the pics...
Lots of shrimp pics...
Side of tank shot...
Side of tank shot 2
FTS shots... (please ignore the floating net box as it contains water lettuce, and the bushy plant sort of in the middle near the back, since i'm still deciding what to do with it)
As always, any comments or criticism is welcome...
IMO, I think you should have some form of plant/hardscape which reaches the water line (or just below) on the left hand side. I would do something like vals or even something unusual like an Aponogeton madacascariensis. I knkw they aren't the tallest, but, IMO it would look great. Another suggestion from me, possibly (try) grow some plants off/out of the background? I don't know the texture of it, but if you could pull it off it'd be great.
As for the pike, I typed it in on google and it came up with all sorts of gars!? Had me worried!
^ no worries... they aren't the easiest fish to find pics of without a scientific name... but heres a pic of what they look like...
(not my pic)
As for the hardscape / tall plant idea... yeah, i've been toying with the idea in my head, and even had a few other people i know suggest something similar, so possibly in the near future when things settle a bit i may still add more... but the background i'm planning on keeping clean (at least for a long while), since once you have anything grow on those things you'll never get them off
I have to admit that it does get quite addictive when you start to get the hang of playing around with the setup... makes me almost want to setup an empty tank, with no water and just soil + rocks to create scapes just for fun then possibly turn them into a planter of some kind?
As for the death valley part, trust me when i say i created plenty of those as well...
