Aquarium causing basement to smell?

Ditto. i'd only use carbon for taking out meds and what not. its what i've been told/read/learnt

i agree i never use carbon not needed unless you need to remove meds ect

My wife says this all the type usually when I feed though check the rims of your tank and hoods lights under the stand for food that may be stuck some where.

yea ive had that problem before with carnisticks when the fish hit the water an bounce some into the rims.. but lately ive been good an check all the type or remove it asap

To the people using carbon to remove the smell from there tanks do a water change! A healthy tank doesn't need carbon and shouldn't smell, there's no reason to use carbon but to remove meds.

I say switch to NLS problem solved long as you dont get the ones with extra garlic. Ive been switching all my fish over for the same reason carnisticks/massivore isnt too bad if your feeding one fish but if you got a few mouths in there to feed then its hard to avoid the smell. In my tanks the smell would leave in an hour or two after feeding but I cant stand the smell.

when i run out of mass an carni i will def try switching food source as first option since this is a simple one to try

could just be your significan other being dramatic.... Ive had that problem before... Also Ive had a tank cycleing that smelled.... But thato nly lasted a few days till everything leveld out...

they are all dramatic!! lol but its been goin on for a while an i do smell it .. it comes an goes somtimes stinks for a day or 2 then not for a day then its back

It's the humidity. My dehumidifier died this Summer and the house started smelling. As soon as the new dehumidifier ran for a couple of hours the smell was gone. Even though Autumn is here, your basement is still likely humid. Basements without aquariums require dehumidifiers to stay dry & free of that musty smell. For basements with aquariums, dehumidifiers are a must. Get one. You'll be glad you did.

most likely gonna get one... was tryin to avoid the extra 250$ but i think its well needed
