After a meal of squid, with my 22” Florida gar swimming above.

Feeding feeding fish, such as Japanese herring, kunning, yellow tail barracuda to predatory fish makes their poop very flaky and disintegrates fast, making it harder to clean up compared to foods such market prawn, squid, octopus, tilapia, where their poop would be more compact and easier to be filtered.

One would probably cost you thousands, considering a simple cb senegalus costs $300-400 over there 😂😂
now they're more like 300.
I got mine for 200 at mates rates.
Endlis go for minimum 500 for a 6/8cm fish.

Gar says hi 👋

small update again. Congicus jumped out of the tank for the 2nd time yesterday. Luckily heard the loud bang of the lid and rushed to put him back. Minor scratches only, eating fine again today. I swear he is the biggest troublemaker, he is the only one who has jumped out, and twice.

Bad news, my congicus jumped out of the tank. I’m not sure for how long either. I have been away in army so the fish are under my parents care. Luckily I came home today and noticed only 4 bichirs in the tank. Checked out and found it underneath my sisters bed. Pic below shows it struggling underneath with all the slimecoat. Was still alive when picked it up. Rushed it over and placed it in tank.
It’s very badly hurt, currently floating at the top of the tank. It is red all over. So far I’ve added salt into the tank and I’ll probably do a water change tmrw. kno4te kno4te what else should I do?

You did the right thing adding salt and the water changes. If Congicus didn't suffer any internal injuries it should heal. Polypterus are tough imo.
Your going to have to make a decision on the future of your fish while serving in the Army. Apparently the Congicus got hungry and ate the missing polys.
