You did the right thing adding salt and the water changes. If Congicus didn't suffer any internal injuries it should heal. Polypterus are tough imo.
Your going to have to make a decision on the future of your fish while serving in the Army. Apparently the Congicus got hungry and ate the missing polys.
That’s what I’m hoping as well. Small update, it’s now back at the bottom of the tank although it is looking fragile. Don’t think there’s any internal injuries. Thanks for the advice, yeah hope it’s tough enough to survive.🙏🙏
The congicus didn’t eat any of the fish, I’ve only Had 5 bichirs from the beginning. Think it got startled and jumped out.

You’re right, I probably have to do something about the fishes while I’m away in army. I’m only able to book out of camp for 2 days a week. So the other 5 days I cannot observe them at all. I really can’t see myself quitting the hobby though ☹☹

Bad news, my congicus jumped out of the tank. I’m not sure for how long either. I have been away in army so the fish are under my parents care. Luckily I came home today and noticed only 4 bichirs in the tank. Checked out and found it underneath my sisters bed. Pic below shows it struggling underneath with all the slimecoat. Was still alive when picked it up. Rushed it over and placed it in tank.
It’s very badly hurt, currently floating at the top of the tank. It is red all over. So far I’ve added salt into the tank and I’ll probably do a water change tmrw. kno4te kno4te what else should I do?

I had a 55-57 cm congicus jump out and was pretty dry, made a 100% recovery. Just kept the water clean. That’s it. They are tough.

I’d try and dim lights. Keep water changes to a minimum and wait it out. Wouldn’t do any meds just yet. Watchful waiting. How long has it been in the tank now?

Sad day for me. I guess it was too long out of the water. It was probably out for around 6-7 hours if I’m not mistaken. Tough loss, was my favourite bichir which I had. Around 21-22” in length, could have been more since some of tail missing from fin rot. The only congicus I had as well, and it would be hard to find another one for a low price since it is becoming rarer in sg. If this continues I may have to switch the fish I keep while I’m in army as I am unable to care for them as much anymore. If I gain another causality I may dive back into the stingray hobby again.

In memorial of it I had the idea of going to taxidermise it. However, the only taxidermy place in Singapore could not take it in as it was too big to taxidermise and they only specialised in land pets. They said they would only be able to start taxidermies on bigger fish starting from next year onwards. Such a devastating loss for me.
The last pic I had of it before it jumped out, behind my Florida gar. For the memories 🙏
