great thread man :)

i had these for around 2-3 weeks before i sold them off to get other stuff. there are few guys in socal with a bunch of these guys so hopefully they get distributed into the wider hobby with more concerted efforts.

do let us know what happens next!

Not a whole lot going on, and I still think the female is holding. Again at feeding time this evening she swam up to the pellets, nudged them slightly, and turned away. Seemed like she's trying really hard to resist opening her mouth.

if they didnt get fertilized, they would be molding by now

Most of the eggs left on the rock turned white sometime between last night and this evening - more than two days after the spawn. I actually wonder if the female's mouth isn't big enough for more eggs/wrigglers?

Another thing I'm wondering is whether she picks up wrigglers, or eggs that are about to hatch and chew them open...anybody had any experience?

Thanks! They are not as brightly colored as some other severums, but have a lot of personality. Fun fish :D

how big is that tank ?? it looks huge in the pics.

Thanks! It's just a 220. Not as long as I had wished for but oh well...

hope everything works out I was looking at those before you got them but were out of my price range.

Wednesday evening - day 4 post spawn.

Same old when I got home this evening - the female showed interest in food but refused to open her mouth.

After dinner I noticed the female stuck her head between the rock they spawned on and the glass, as if she was trying to find something. What could be so important...I took a closer look and.....

WIGGLERS!! :nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly:

3 or 4 apparently fell ooff the rock or out of the female's mouth. They looked bigger than I thought...little black balls with a wiggling tail...moving around but couldn't swim.

I moved the rock slightly so she could get in there. Took 10 seconds to dry my hands, and the wigglers were gone - most likely picked up by the female...she's shutting her mouth again. :)

I guess So far so good :D
