You should know that all us monster fish keepers are a fickle sort with short attention spans...

The tank looks great though, can't wait to see it full of aros.

Nice. Thanks man! The difference between me and the so called "noobs" is that I'd been planning on building this before I ever found MFK. In fact, I found MFK while searching for previous examples of big tanks. I prowled around as a guest for a long time. I used to dream about doing a tank like this as far back as I can remember.

I'm motivated to get this done now...

Ok, I need opinions. I'm looking for lighting. The tank is going to have a sheet plastic tent covering the entire thing, so it should be pretty much contained (rough sketch at the bottom. Clear blue is representing plastic). The tent is because I plan on having a lot of branches, and vines above the water line, and populating the top area with bugs of all sorts. Mainly beetles from superworms and mealworms. The idea is to let the aros jump.

So, back to the question. The lights would be installed above the tent! I was going to buy fluorescent lights from lowes at $30 each, but it says right on the box "Do not install over aquariums" Which I thought was pretty funny. My wife is 100% opposed to me using an open system fluorescent. I'm not. I think that the humidity will be contained within the "tent", and I'd secure the fixture to the ceiling structure very securly.

I found a 72" fluorescent fixture that I really like. Has 2 10,000k and 2 actinic lights and led moonlights, plus it has an acrylic splash guard and built in cooling fans for $200. That's not too bad for a fix all/all in one unit, but what do you guys think about using the $30 fixtures and building a splash guard/venting etc.???? Or some other lighting solution for that matter? Any input would be appreciated.
