Ok, so here's the block, and a before pic of where the tank is going. My buddy is coming tomorrow in the am and we're getting the rest of the stuff for the build from the local big box. See how far we can get tomorrow. I got a hammer drill off my father in law yesterday to drill the holes in the slab for the rebar. I'll post progress pics tomorrow afternoon.

Just a quick thought, actually one I've considered when I get ready to build, how are you going to get all those blocks into the basement without breaking your back? :nilly:

By hand is out of the question, a dolly/hand truck, still back breaking. Thats the only job I haven't gotten any volunters for...

Guess this is one of those no pain no gain things :D

LOL. Good ol fashion back breakin work my friend. Thank god for delivery :naughty: They're dropped off about 12' away from where the tank is, so it shouldn't be too bad. I just carried about 20 of them in to layout the base, and it wasn't bad. My buddy does this for a living, and he's about 6'-1" 220lbs and mostly muscle. He's crazy. Give him some beer and he'll work all day. We're working from 7:00 tomorrow morning til about midnight tomorrow. I hope we can have the block work done, and pour the base slab tomorrow. I should get the sanitred this coming week, and should set the glass and seal the interior next weekend. Then I'll let it setup for a week and fill it the following weekend.

Sounds like a long day. Good luck with everything. I can't wait to see the finished project.

well, I had an interesting day yesterday! My one friend who is a mason called me at 3:00 in the am and said he was too drunk to drive up here  Whatever, so my other buddy came over. We used his trailor to go to the big box and get more concrete block and all the concrete and mortar etc etc etc. Spent another $541.24. So we hauled one pallet of concrete and misc other supplies, and unloaded it here. A LOT of work!! Next we went back to get 22 more blocks and the mortar. As we were loading his trailor, the tongue snapped! Right in half! SO there we were at the loading dock at lowes with a busted trailor and no way to get the stuff here. So we pushed the trailor out of the way and proceded to load his jeep with block. We eventually got everything here though.

So the only thing we actually got done was relocating the mess sink last night. I ran new wiring this morning from the panel to the tank and installed 2 GFI outlets up where the pumps will be. My little one is sleeping now, and I've got to run out and return some of the stuff I bought. Found easier ways to do things without spending money!

Here are some fairly pointless pics.

1. I am NOT a contractor, nor an electrician, nor a plumber! This is a DIY adventure! If you are a plumber or electrician or carpenter, please don't look too closely!

After the little one wakes up, I'm going to start drilling for the rebar. If I can, I'll start laying block tonight.

Getting closer. I started drilling holes. This hammer drill is a piece of crap! My father in law loaned it to me and I think I broke it. It has barely any hammer action! I'm getting a good one off another bud tomorrow.

I managed to get 4 drilled. I also layed it all out and marked the floor where all the pieces are going. Wifey sent me to dollar tree today to look for some plastic plates and I came home with 180 pot scrubbies :D

So here's the layout and the hole drilling procedure. BLASTED linolium!!! It's staying down. Shouldn't impact the concrete at all.

I realized I never posted this. This is the finished view. The two panels above the tank on either side of the beam are doors. The bottom panel on the right is a door also. That space is empty, but I may use it for a 3rd pond filter later, if my w/d isn't enough. The spacing of the aluminum channels (grey lines) isn't right here. It will be evenly spaced in reality. This was a quick sketch.
