Building My 50,000 Gallon Monster Mega Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Richard removed the 6 fluorescent 4 foot fixtures at the rear of the tank.

He also started putting a second set of nails into the styro. These were the 3 1/2" stainless steel nails. He did this till his arm got tired.

Richard got a friend from worked named Ian, to come over and help with the nailing and drilling the holes for the installing the first hanger's anchor bolts. Ian has the same blow up boat so we put both boats in the tank.

This is Richard and you can see the first 2x6 board. That's algae growing on the tank walls above the water line. The tank is veeerrry humid.

another picture of the 2 boats in the tank.

You can see the first 12' 2x6 mounted in the back. To this I will run 4x4 across to the openings above the glass where they will be supported by angle iron. Then I can hang the new fluorescents/sodiums or halogens from these new supports wire them to individual plugs and replace them individually if I have a problem.........at least that's the plan

What a pain in the rear.... Thank God for good friends eh?

So the lights are going to plug in now? It's really not too much of a pain to just re-wire a new fixture though...

No fish attacking the boats this time?

Also, Lora wanted to know how old your gigas were. She watches River Monsters on Animal Planet with me every Sunday. Last night he caught a 150 lb. female...
