Truly Commend you on this. Fantastic ideas and plans. well done.

I notice you have a

- Mystus Wyckii - How big is it?? What tank is it in and What is the Temprament with other fish?
I have owned 4 Hemibagrus wyckii (formerly Mystus wyckii).

#1 Bought early in 1990 at 6" from Big Al's Aquarium Services on Dundas St in Mississauga Ontario for $60.00. He lived in a 90 gallon originally and eventually was moved to a 180 and then a 250 gallon tank. He was 32" long when he died in 1999.

#2 Bought mid way in 1990 at 8" from Big Al's Aquarium Services on Dundas St in Mississauga Ontario for $50.00. She lived in a 90 gallon originally and eventually was moved to a 180 then into my big tank where she is seen every 2 to 3 years. She lives in caves in the lava rock and eats expensive african and south american cichlids. Very seldom comes out for pellets or chunks of makerel/herring/salmon or trout. She is about 32" long and 20 years old. My friend at the nuclear plant sometimes brings over a remote controlled submarine which we use to try and find her and the 5' long angulla angulla eels that also hide in the lava rock and seldom come out.

Picture of a group of friends shown below include the late/great Stuart Grant from Lake Malawi Africa, Ad Konings from El Paso Texas (Nederlands also), Tom Herman Guelph, Ontario (Nederlands also), Neil Burgess Guelph Ontario (England also), Wei Him Lam Toronto Ontario (Calcutta India also), Glen Marshall from Ontario are all playing with the monitor controlling the remote submarine and looking for the Hemibagrus wyckii and the eels.

#3 Bought in 1999 at 5" at Arlington Pet Shop in Downsview Toronto Ontario for $25. She started out in a 50 then a 180 then moved to my 15,000 at 12" and then moved in February of 2010 to my 52,000. She was 24" - 24 1/2" long when caught.

Here is a youtube video of moving her.

#4 Bought in 2007 at 5" for $30.00 from Jerry Draper The Tropical Fish Room in Brantford Ontario Canada. It started out in a 50 gallon then a 110 gallon then a 180 gallon and is now in a 240 gallon. It will be moved in the next few months to the 15,000. It does attack plecos but with the extra room and the fact it is only about 18" it should be OK. Most the plecos are now 12" to 17" in the 15,000.

Here are a few pictures of when it was in the 180.

Easy to see why it is called a crystal eye catfish.......

You asked about how they get along with other fish.

#1. One of the most vicious fish I have ever owned. Not safe with anybody.
#2. Very docile Never seen to attack another fish. Of course being a predator would eat small fish.
#3. Vey docile similar to #2.
#4. Very aggressive bu I feel will mellow a lot in the 52,000.

I and friends agree #1 and #4 are males. #2 and #3 are females.

A picture below of Ad Konings, Big John Parniaviak and cichlid lover/author Wayne Leibel getting together and talking fish.

No im in the US the new setup looks boss for sure.
Since they are all captive bred and micro chipped it makes no sense the USA still bans them.

Never owned a flowerhorn. But they are really pretty fish.

Hybrids:

#1. I was given a Pim-redtail-planiceps hybrid in 1997 by a fellow name Paul who lived in the St Catharines/Niagara area. It got up to about 40" when it died in 2004.

#2. A group of convicts which appeared to have been crossed with a parrot cichlid where given to me in 2006. They are not quite as bad mannered as regular convicts and grow a little bigger. There are a few in my 15,000.

#3. I believe I have spawn from a Parachromis manguense and Parachromis loisellei. I bought them from Jerry Draper at The Tropical Fish Room in Brantford Ontario in 2007. He said they were the two different species.

The male however shows P. manguense when not breeding and changes his colours to P. loisellie when spawning.

I have about 8 babies from them and the male and babies (some are now 10"+) are in the 15,000. The female was killed by the male in 2008 after spawning in a 180.

I had a problem with a leak at the very top of one of the filters. I called up the manufacturer in OK GCT and Gary Cryer the owner advised me the nut on the underside of the manual pressure release valve was probably loose.

I had purchased it from Daniel at Aquatic Kingdom in Mississauga Ontario. He came over to check it out for me and tefloned the pressure valve and tightened the nut Gary had correctly identified as being the problem.

Here is a picture of Daniel.
