ok maybe I missed it but I thought you put a proper liner in before the tarps? basically the tarps are just a submersible backgound to give yuo the color you wanted as apposed to having to look at black. looks like a good project so far. how much has it cost you so far? subscribed

The original plan was to put a pond liner under the tarp (liner for waterproof security, tarp for colour and more waterproofness) but thought i'd try and cut a corner and save money. The tarps are holding water so far but i am going to get a liner now after the comments on here before i go any further.

Cost so far? i think: £80 for 10mm glass, £90 for metal work, £60 for 4 sheets of MDF, £120 for 40 2x4s, £23 on tarps, £30 ish on sealant, and got through about 500 3" screws so far and 100 or so 1.5" screws, can't remember how much they were. The 8000ltr per hour pump was £50 off ebay, home made filters were about £40. So just over £500 ish probably. A new liner will probably be about £25 on top. Total cost of £525 works out about $800 i think.

ello satan m8, 1st off happy new year to u and urs, 2nd, god damn it u really have been busy eh lol read through the lot and soz ta here about the fishy losses, build looks strong as but 1 prob which i think people have allready pointed out TARP NO GOOD ALONE, sorry ta shout at ya but i would hate to see ur new fish room/conservatory/bar area :naughty:, flooded to death. I would go with the liner underneath the tarp if u want the color of the tarp as the effect ;)

BTW, cant wait to se how ur gona put those windows in with the tarp/and liner there, this could be interesting as that is exactly the way i want to do mine. Still lots of plans on my build in progress, i have modified the garage to make more room so i can do 1 huge build instead of 2, it seemed like the right way to go, picking myself a tiginarus (zebra shovelnose) up in couple of weeks, but hes for the house as hes pretty damn cool, and im off too staffordshire in a couple of weeks also to pick his new home up soooooo, and u know where im going with this 1 :naughty: If poss and i know u wont be working as it will be a sunday, then i will pop into urs on the way home if thats cool with u and mrs satan ;) might even give u a hand with a few sods and bods.

Just tell me ta pittle off if not but would be good ta see this build up close and personal to get a few more ideas.

I did notice u have the room above for some frame work to do a waterfall effect for the sump system, its an idea, and wouldnt cost much to build either :D

Speak soon bud and great work on that build, its absolutly wicked

Hey matey, happy new year to you too.

No need to worry, will be getting liner and redoing that part of it before i go any further. The front of the lid may end up being a bar as it'll be the same hight as my bar table and matches the bar stool height well. must buy more optics:D

Good choice on getting a tig, i'll be very jealous of that. I would like to point out that Norfolk isn't exactly on the way back from Staffordshire but that's a minor detail and shouldn't hold you back from visiting.

You'll have to let me know which Sunday you plan on as i do work Sundays when my shift falls on them and i'm not available on one this month until Jan 31st.......and i'm at a wedding the day before and plan on getting just a little rat arsed. You'll have to excuse the state of the rest of my house too but there's a 500gal paddling pool where a lot of my stuff is supposed to go (gotta get priorities right!) Get the timing right with your visit and you'll (hopefully) be helping move fish.

Have you seen the light on your build then and decided to just seal all the garage walls, put a big window where the door should be, and chuck a hose in the top?
