lol now now children no fighting in the playground

satan that cut out window looks like it aint been cut out lol anyway get ya butt up and get those frames in so u can start filling by the end of next week ;)

When u say what depth will my windows be, what exactly do u mean?? depth from the top of the pond i presume, if so then it would have to be 1ft from the top leaving 2ft at the bottom so they are sort of off centre from the top to bottom.

If that guy can get platinum rtc's in then get me 1 too, i will pick up and also give u ur £20 whilst im there. Ive searched all over the net for them with no luck at all, found 1 that was snatched straight away :(

Yeah i thought so too, if you look really closely you can see through it! Was the only picture i had......until now....

Yeah that's what i meant, 12mm will be fine for your windows then, don't go thinner tho. Water pressure is what's important with glass thickness, from the water surface to the bottom edge of your window is 3' so you need 12mm glass. (Satan's Goldfish removes all responsibility from himself if you use his advice, fit 12mm glass, and it turns out he was talking complete b*ll*cks and you end up with a wet floor and broken glass!) Will your window openings by 2'x2' or is that the size of the glass you're getting? I know one large window would be much better for viewing the fish, but smaller ones definately work out cheaper and are much easier for one person to lift and fit (and you don't lose so much if you accidently break one!)

At least you found 1 online, i didn't even manage that! Chances are even if they can get an 'interesting coloured' rtc in then i won't be able to afford it. Will still order you one if they can get them matey, will ask when you come visit.

Anyway, back on topic, some better pictures for you: Thick beading of sealant applied around the frame. The sealant on it's own is sticky enough to hold frame in place against the liner. As the screws are tightened in the sealant is squeezed between the liner and the frame. And that's all three frames up and fitted:D they all ended up being fitted a little lower than originally planned, good job there's a huge margin for error built into positioning them!

wow thats looking really good, what about the exposed metal what will be in the water, will that not rust?? or am i just not thinking out the box here :D

I have just woke up from a small nap with the kids whilst the wife was away shopping hehehe brain funcionality not at its best when i just wake :)

The size of my glass will be 2x2, so the openings will be slightly smaller, i like your metal frame idea, it seems to be working out pretty well

The plan is that when it's all done all the metal of the frames will be covered in some sort of sealant so it will not be in contact with the water. The inside of the metal angle will obviously have the silicone holding the glass next to it, and sealing the tarp to outside of the frame will cover the rest of it in silicone.

When are you starting a thread again with your designs and build on then?;) (not trying to stop you hijacking mine (it saves me looking more places) but would be good to see your design and work somewhere.)
