any progress on the fill matey? gota see this monster full, were getting a bit impatient lol
ok bigcol, just for you:naughty:

Earlier this morning when i got up (afternoon really;)): water starts going in as i do water change on paddling pool. Tarp gets pulled tight and is coming away at the bottom of one of the windows:( no biggy tho, will just use the dregs of the liner sealant to stick it to the liner and make a patch from the bits of tarp that were cut out when i've got a few more inches of water in (The liner sealant will set under water):)

Took pics of the paddling pool while it was low for water change. Gives a visual on the amount of water turnover that will be in the pond from the filters and some pictures of it's intended inhabitants:headbang2Sorry, but none of the big cats were out:banhim::ROFL:

Col, is there no chance/way of you being able to bring those 2 fish down on the 31st?

Ok so it did come away like jasoncambs said it would :( maybe i shouldnt have pushed for the water fill eh  :banme: hahaha

M8 for me to bring them to you i need some large bags and maybe a heat pack, might not need the heat pack but its just to be sure the water doesnt get too cold as i have quite a few miles to do ;) I will try to sort it out for you as it makes more sence if im that way anyway ;)

Is the pond liner holding?

Pond liner's holding fine, but then that is a liner and is held in place with screws rather just silicone! The tarp doesn't need to be water proof any more so it's not a major disaster. At a depth of 5.5" already, only another 30" to go!:headbang2 Stopped for the day and until i've stuck the tarp back down.

If you can scrounge a decent poly box from an lfs or use a cool box i've found that's a good way of moving large fish long distance. Starve them for about a week first, put them in the water tight insulated box to travel, keeps the heat in and movement from the car keeps it oxygenated. Just don't stop in one place for more than an hour or so!:grinno:

Its a shame about that tarp not holding m8 it looks slightly messy now. Like i said i will sort it somehow, i have 2 poly boxes allready but they start to stink after 10min so i guess i will have to sort something else out ;)
It should look better after i've been in with the sealant, that's one thing i actually have some confidence in!

Ok mate, i'll leave it up to you and what you'll thinks best for moving them. Decided to start building yours yet?;)

lol ok then it should look ok when its fixed, i know it wont leak even if the tarp has come away.

After all the thinking and plans and talk on here with alot of people including yourself, ive decided the 8x8x5 with 2 large viewing windows ;) just gotta move the tanks along a few feet, put them on the b+q pallet shelves im currently winning ;) (which can hold upto 8 tonne) Then get cracking, oh theres the little matter of sealing the whole garage off to make it a bit warmer too. apart from that i now know what the right plan of action is.

Ok . Just read that the tarp pulled tight and came away at the windows . Remember earlier I said to put a few inches of water in the bottom before sealing and some no it all said I was wrong . Well now I would like to take this opertunity to say I TOLD YOU SO to the person that said I was wrong . This is exactly the situation I was giving advise to avoid . Rant over . Let see if he has a answer to that one . Sorry Satan but my good advise was shot down avfew pages ago when I simply looked at what you were doing and knew this would happen . My reason for saying you should add avfew inches if water was to push the liner and tarp home before cutting and sealing .

As someone mentioned, you need to have the liner seated in place before you add the hard rubber gasket, but was wrong about having water in it while sealing. Moisture and uncured sealant don't go together. The moisture will compromise the bond.
oh I found the bit where someone said I was wrong .
Sooooo . Add a inch of water next time Satan x x

Looking good anyway bud .I am off to the Asian arowana section now to find out about my new red fish (smile)And if your interested I would like my hand feeding big datniod to go to a good home when your pond is finished x
