You have some really beautiful fish. I'm so sorry you lost some. Good luck with your build.

thanks, even my mum said when she visited why didn't i just leave it with the kiddy pool as it was looking good.

Feel free to steal ideas, it's working out a really cheap way of doing it so far. Ready made pump and filtration from the lfs would have been £360, but mines only cost £140 so far and 80 of that was on the pump.

Not much new to report, been busy moving furniture this last couple of days.

There's been no more deaths, and the water parameters are looking better each day. Now got a couple of adaptor pipes to fit the pump better, will be fitting those later today along with fitting the bulk heads to the bio filter.

I've put my bar table up next to the pool, it's great sitting there in the morning with a cup of tea trying to wake up and watching the fish.

Been working out how much wood and what sizes it needs to be cut too for the permanent build. Looking at £240 at least for the lengths of 2x4 and the 8x4 sheets. Not worked out screws yet. But for now that space has ben put to another use...................(i'm just a big child:D)

Adaptor pipe fitted to pump, Bulk heads fitted to bio filter box. Water parameters fine. Not much else to say.

Been called back into work for a couple of weeks from this Sunday so all the time i had ready to build the pond has had to be put back for a bit. Updates when things are moving along again.

Just annoyed at having to go back to work so no point even trying to order the wood until i'm back on leave. Watching 'Mythbusters' on tele the other night and one of the guys on there quickly knocked up a a wood and liner pool bigger than i'm planning and it looks like i might have seriously over-engineered my design as he used nowhere near the amount of supports i thought i'd need. Which is nice.

I'm struggling to work out how thick my glass will need to be on the permanent build. I've looked at the glass charts and calculators but they all seem to be for full glass aquariums not window pane in ply builds. I'm wanting 4 viewing windows across the front each roughly 2' wide and going 3' deep and framed in. I've worked out that i don't need to go as thick as i would if the entire front was one large 9'x3' sheet but can't work out how thick i will need. Do i treat each as a seperate 2'w3'd 'tank' and go with the calculator recommendation of 12mm or do i need to go thicker than that?
