so ya have any tips on the sealing of veiwing ports im thinking of putting a rubber seal all around mine with some silacone then ankering every thing to the main fram sound like a good idea or not im just glad to see ya finaly got it fixed the one im gona be building is gona be 10ft long 5ft wide and 4 foot deep what do you think the galonage wuld be for this? and do ya think this wuld be sutable for 1 channel 1 rtc 1 rtc x tsn 1 tsn and mabe a few others ?
Sounds like a good sized project, knowing what i know now and seeing how it's panned out if i could go back and start mine again i'd actually go 12x5x4. Off the top of my head that roughly works out about 1500 us gallons and sounds like a good size to grow those fish in. Get ya self some mid level fish in there too
Rubber seal definately sounds like a good idea, one thing i have found and seen mentioned on mfk a lot is that silicone doesn't stick well to pond liner if you're going to use that to water proof the rest of it so the glass needs supporting in place some other way. That's why i've used frames. However the black liner sealant i got is brilliant for sticking anything to anything and could have held the glass straight onto the liner as long as there was a little support at the bottom, expensive stuff but worth it over silicone if dealing with liner.

i would say most defo more room for a few more monsters in that beast of a pond, that is a huge challenge 10' long lol i hope your starting soon i wana see this 1
good luck
Satan: get those pics up please you have me worried now dude, this could really become a huge problem for you!!!! Get paint onto the pics too, point out the main spots please
Might be able to tomorrow.
To get everyone else up to speed; been away for a couple of days and got back to find that damned leak had started up again
it is just a drip everynow and then but enough to make me wanna give up and buy a fibreglass tub like i originally thought and not bother with windows. it's somehow found it's way through to the edge of the liner a sealant patch i shoved down the side so at least now it's visible on the outside of the viewing glass from outside the pond. And the it's so slow and small that the towel i placed underneath to catch the drips is drying quicker than it's leaking. Still, it's ******* annoying. Gonna sit and stare at it for a while when i eventually get some time to myself and see if i can get inspired to fix it and not destroy it all and scale down.

ya as soon as i get the lumber to start i will start posting pics i was hoping i culd fit some more in there still want to know about the viewing port sealing . and by the way there are some people on here that have some picks of ponds bigger than the one i want to build.
Just remember to go thick enough on the glass! lol. That's gonna be a lot of lumber, can't over engineer enough on something like this. Get thinking on your filtration too, diy price on mine is a fraction of what off the shelf would have been.
Your fish will love it, just always try and keep in mind that even a 2ft rtc will look small in there and it'll be tempting to put more catfish in with it. Resist and be strong!
Yes more can go in just bare in mind what they'll grow into. Trouble with mine is now i know with what's in it that i'm gonna have to go larger again eventually. Try and picture mine with just the 3 rtcxtsn, a tsn, and a rtc at 3-4feet each, 4 3ft pacu, and a 3ft silver aro. Just won't work. Already have plans in my head for what to do next in a couple of years time for more space for them.
