had to come back and catch up on this build looking good. lol the sun cat that gave eveery body a wooping when he escaped thats great cant belive he didnt get eaten i cant wait to see this thing finished. its gona be awsome. it turns out i cant build my big pond so i guss i baught a intex pool for the family lol. but i was told i can build a smaller one so im thinking of one same size as yours. glad to see ya on here a bit more now that means mor pics of them awsome fish of yours right :) i hope so.
Glad you're still enjoying it, i know i haven't at times! The sun cat will come out when i've got a big enough tank setup again, there won't be so many hiding places for him when the lid's done on this!

Well at least you have a big pool to drink beer in during the summer now;) Intex do do some smaller rectangular pools, the one i was using was pretty much their smallest and that still held up to 500 gallons!

Mrs Satan kept an eye on me earlier so managed to get the boards cut to size for the front and they're now all no-more-nails'd into place. Next time i'm doing some DIY around the house and i've got the smooth white poly filler out i'm going to fill in all the gaps and holes around the boards to give it a better finish.

Need to get the wood together for the around the top now so i can finally remove the big ugly clamps that are holding the liner and tarp in place!

When do you plan on building a lid for this monster?
Soon hopefully. Just need to get the materials together. Can't get it completely full with water until the lid's done so it's kinda a priority, a lintle needs to be fitted along the top of the windows above the white boarding i've just fitted and some planks fitted around the top to hold the liner and tarp in place then the lid will sit on that.

Very cool m8, love the green in there it sets it right off eh ;)

How you planning on sealing the lid to be water proof??? orrrrrrrrrr are you going for a huge sheet of plastic :D
Yeah it was looking rather impressive last night as it got dark with the white surrounds and the green plants in, that's definately a win.

Water proofing.......I think that's still on the ironing out the kinks part of the design! I did come up with an idea earlier for building the lid and completely removing all the filter boxes from inside the pond to give more swimming space so that's probably happening.

Speaking of removing boxes, (and i don't know why i didn't think of this sooner) since Bam Bam stupidly jumped into the plant box there's been no plant's in there so it was just taking up space and serving no purpose. So earlier i removed it.......and used the bricks it was standing to raise the mechanical filter box.......and as the level of the mechanical box and plant box being low was what was stopping more water going in, now it could be topped up a bit more........it's now 1 inch short of being full of water! With (touch wood) no more leaks as we filled it:D

Couple of pictures of it almost full, the 2 5ft strip lights are on honest! I think this is highlighting that i'm going to need a lot of lighting in this. I'll think about getting better shots later when the suns gone down.

leak number 183: Dripping from same side as the leak that's haunted me for the last few months, but this time it's from much higher up and seems to magically appear through the silicone holding the glass to the frame. At least it's MO is different. Now draining top few inches again, copious amounts of black liner sealant already squeezed into the gap.

Looks good, sorry you are having so much problems. Hope everything get ironed out soon.
Cheers, i hope so to! It's really time i should be on to a new project:nilly:

Not had to drop any more water yet. This morning i pulled out the damp towels that were stuffed in the gap last night and been watching like a hawk all day waiting for the leak to rise up again.

Pictures of it today, water level still high. 2x4s around the top as i start to work out the top (i think i can make a strong frame with just 6 more 8ft 2x4's) and the conservatory window and ceiling blinds pulled back for the first time this year letting in lots of natural sunlight:D The Nissan towel is there for when the leak comes back and i'm not looking at it, it goes up to the edge of the gap along the bottom of the window but not into it so i can see it when it does flow over again.:(:irked:
