I can't see a problem with going fibreglass in a metal frame, i was looking at fibreglass stock tubs that i would have had to build a wooden frame for when i started this. Wouldn't have taken too much imagination to get glass fitted in the side of them for a viewing window, just find someone competant with fibreglass (look in yellow pages or for a boat builder.)
Pictures of the blue fibreglass stock tubs i was looking at and their prices. Still tempted to get one, even the smallest is the equivalent of 300 gallons! The idiots have drilled through the bottoms to fix them to a new railing now though The biggest one with a window might be perfect for you.
