no the paint did not rub off. It cant. the resin is protecting it like a hard shell. maybe the resin ate a bit of it when it was curing, but i didnt notice any of that. it may look different ow that it haswater in it with only the front lghts on, and in the first pic, it had n water and all lights on,plus the background was beaded in water from being rinced off so maybe that gave it a diffenent look too.

Took this pic from last night(excuse the air bubbles from the water change i just did befor the pic)
added some plants. let me know what you think.

Very nice how much gallons did you loose with this diy?

I estimated it at 15 gallons or less. On the left side, the thickest point is 3 inches. on the right side the thickest point is 6 inches(the part that hides the equipment) But i saved alot of space by removing 1.5 inches of the back of allof the rocks, and also saved even more space by doing modules instead of a solid background.
Befor i did the modification, the background took up more than 30gallons. So thats why i dcieded to change it. 30 gallons off of 92 was just too much. I can deal with it taking 15. most deco takes up that much anyway.

looks good, i think theres a little to much plants though. but thats just me. i'd snip a few sections of the leaves off... but again thats all me.

looks great man

I was thinking the same thing to be honest. i'll see what i can do.

Looks very nice. I have seen the 3D backgrounds you can go buy and they cost WAY to much and you need to take you bracing off to get them in. I like your DIY better.
