Darboy's Cichla Pleiozona Growout Thread

Yeah me too actually 600 gallons worth of green water.. How do you remedy those?

UV lighting
Reduce feeding
Reduce overhead Lighting time to 4-5hrs
Loads of w/c's.........

Just a few ways I can think of, also your tank is a huge 600 gallon so try using a pond 'clear water/green away'

Let me know how things go :)

Thanks guys so far i did half a water change, just fed them once in a week which is very scarce already, switched off the lights and closed off one side of the tank with newspaper coz i learned that every morning theres a beam of sunlight hitting that side of the tank. I dont have the budet for a uv light as of the moment so im currently looking for someone who can lend me theirs. This is the first time green water happened and i think its because the country just experienced a whole week of rain and the sun didnt show up for close to two weeks. But then after that span the sun showed up like it was summer... Can that occurence trigger algae bloom? Tank is usually cleaned periodically until this happened. Nevertheless the fish look great but are having a hard time catching feeders hehe.

darboy, i can get some powder chemicals on my side and mail it to u, just make sure u dose it right. it removes all traces of algae from the water and the tank, without much scrubbing. its by some japanese company. friend dose it into its monster ponds and the water + tiles are clean within the week.
