Question about flow rate.

I guess as more air was purged from the system the flow rate climbed to over 50gph i adjusted to ball valve some and got it down to 21 gph (1 gal jug filled in 2 min 48 sec)

Do you guys think it will perform better at the 20 gph range or should i adjust it some more and get closer to 30 to 40 ?
Just do 30gph. It's not too much to kill the bacteria/keep it from growing, but it's still enough to keep the nitrates low.

Im at 27 now so we'll see. Other than not moving as much water any reasons to not be lower say in the 20ish range ?
Did it make your ph drop?
Will test it later and let you know

No, it just won't consume as many nitrates.

Tomt37 Tomt37 Hows the cycling coming along on your tank? I'm curious to see how long it takes with biodigest.

I'm running carbon pellets .. so not sure if that's quickened the process but I'm down to barely readable now for nitrate .. I' checked phosphate and it's down too .. but not to zero which is good as didn't want it to crash .. it's really kicked my biopellet filter into action and generally my water is much clearer .. in 3 days it's made a big change

I've used it to set up fry tank so I'll do a test on that tomorrow too

Have you been dosing once per 2 weeks or more often?

Nope not yet .. just adding crushed flake at the min to mature tank ... fry are 6 days old so still just in the wriggler stage so keeping them in a 5 gallon tub where I can manage everything easily .. but they should be free swimming for the most part sometime tomorrow so will move them in time for feeding to start late tomorrow
