1) I think i understand this now: the lower the t is in the overflow, the stronger the syphon, but if it is below the elbow (inside the tank) it will not restart syphoning when power is restored?

2)Also, the syphon will continue after a power outage, so the only way to keep from having a wet floor is to keep the overflow intake very high in the tank, and to have a large sump... correct?

3) many ppl mention a drip station, I however dont know the purpose for this, or how it works, and is setup.

4) I have a 210, and want to use the wet/dry setup on it. I have a 29G tank laying around, will this be large enough, or should i consider something larger?

5) I like the setup that Volenti pictured in post 292 of this thread, and would like to do this in each of the back corners, i am also aiming for a combined flow rate of aprox. 1050. If i use twin overflows, what diameter plumbing should i use? 1.25?

6) Lastly, who is a good online distributor of quality pumps that i can look into?

Sorry for so many questions, but you guy's unleashed the DIY guy hidden just below the surface of my skin. Thanks again to all who have contributed to this great thread!....Chris

Rio 600 - not worth taking out of the box.

Look into a Quiet One. They are inexpensive and come in many sizes.

Yep.

Yep.

It constantly replaces a portion of the tank water. The purpose is to replace water changes.

It is fine. If you use pot scrubbers, you will get more surface area for the bacteria to grow on.

Yep, that will get the job done.

Petsmart.com
You can print the page of the pump with the price and take it to the store. They will match the price.

Yep, they are rated at zero feet. That is so crappy pumps can be marketed next to ballsy pumps.

Yeah, that thread turned into a thorn in my side too. Everyone wants me to go find their info rather than them doing it. :irked: I should have just posted something like "I am a nerd without a life...let me go look up stuff for you".

For Quiet One's, here is a link with a list of pumps.

Click on the pump name in blue for the pump curve. If you need it translated, just let me know. I'll need to know how high you will be pumping (6ft) and how much water you want to pump per hour (210g x turnovers).

Ok, so I can't link to the pump curves. Click on the model 4000 high head (three turnovers) or the model 6000 (five turnovers).

Either will do the job for you. Basicly the difference of the two will be electricity consumption, and how messy your fish are.

How about a pump for me? Which one would be good on the 29g tank?

Thanks!
