I think my overflow is getting air trapped in it or something because the flow of it keeps slowing down then the water level in the tank will rise to about 1/2" below the top of the tank the it will start siphoning really qiuckly until it gets back to the top of the intake, it's kinda scary.

I think thats called bouncing. I think it has something to do with the pressure in the pipe slowly building up, this causing it the syphon to slow down slightly, as the pressure build it reaches a point where there is enought pressure to remove some of the trapped air. I think thats whats going on. Or something to the same affect.

Kramer, I am not sure if this matters or not but your check valve is on the upward 90* elbow & not the downward side.
The 90* el you have at the top isnt the problem, but im not sure what is.

CHOMPERS will come along @ like 4 in the morning to help.:D

this is my overflow.

You made an error in your overflow... you put the t on the vent pipe... it belongs on the downtube coming out of the tank, just above the 90. not too difficult of a fix.

I am early tonight. It is 1am. It doesn't matter which of the two fittings it is on, just as long as it is on that loop. The 90 isn't a problem.

It is the cap on the vent. I hate dealing with the same problem over and over and over. Nobody ever listens.

nope, it is in the right place. If it were on the other pipe, when the syphon stopped, air would enter the loop causing it to not start.

I feel sorry for you Chompers.I frequent this thread often out of curriosity.99% of questions now being asked would be self answered if only people would read through the thread first. That is why it is a sticky.I am not trying to be rude, I am just trying to say that sometimes people will find the answer they are looking for quicker if you simply read what is already there and believe me,it is all here in this thread.

The cap wasnt on when it was doing this:confused:
The overflow is running smoothly now, dont know why though because I haven't changed anything...

I have a 29g tank, dimensions being 30x12x18. All in inchs. So would the cuts be ok?

1) 16" cut for the intake.
1) 20" cut for the tallest piece.
2) 18" cuts to form the loop.
3) 2" cuts to form connector pieces. 1 to hold the intake to the loop. 1 to hold the loop together. 1 to hold the loop to the tallest piece together.

Or do I not need these "connector" pieces?

Id have 7 elbows on it, and 1 ball valve, and 1 check valve, and 1 "T" on it.

Common guys I need help Im leaving for home depot soon! :)

Sounds like you have a grip on it. If you want, put it together without gluing and then post a picture of what you have. It sounds good though. I didn't check your measurements because it's almost 4am and I just got home from a long weekend. You will know how things are when you test fit it on your tank.
