diy overflow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you could start the flow by sucking on the open tube on the ouside of the tank, but that wont remove trapped air from the bend (where it goes over the tank)
You'll need to get this air out, and the best way is to just use that check valve.

this looks cool, i think im going to make one but how do i know what kinda of pump to buy so that the sump doesnt overflow

could someone tell me where they sell check valves and how exactley it is used to establish the flow? thanksss

Lfs ;) like .75 to 1.50 and Pull air through the vent pipe to start the syphon :) Check valve suck the air out of that too.. When i start mine i pull the drain out of the sump and put a stop over it then pull air through the vent pipe. The syphon fills up.. I un plug the drain hose and place it back in the sump flowing :) Hope this helps.. If you need more detail let us know.. :)

ok after reading about this pvc overflow i think i got an idea on how it works. u can suck the vent tube to get it started and the Check valve is there to get rid of the extra air bubbles so that there is only water flowing through the pipes. CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG! also could u tell me how u got that Check valve in ur piping with it leaking?

drill a hole in the tube and glue the check valve in it :grinyes:

It allows you to pull all of the air out, and wont let any back in.

I've made two of these and they worka TREAT!

The only fault i find with them is hiding them or covering them as they are pretty obvious in the tank.

Spray with either clear or camoflague, you can't see 'em... (sorry couldn't resist) :screwy:

Has anyone tried the long down pipe with holes (from one of the link pix) to take water form different depths of the tank?
