I know it works for with 1" pipe, and I've heard its less effective with anything larger than 1 1/4" pipe. You can flow over 600 gph with the 1", so I would build 2 of them. It should only cost about 25 bucks to build both of them.

Hey Rallysman, I was reading this again to try to understand it better, are you sure about the 1.5" pipe?

No, I'm not, I'm sorry I put that. I was used to using the 1.5 on my newest system. I forgot what I was advising on:(
Go with the 1", it will flow plenty for your tank.
Again, sorry for the confusion.... I feel like an ass lol.

No need to feel like that, Your usually the one that answers all my newb questions anyways :D

I'll go with the 1":cool-1: , I think I'm going to put it together tomorrow,

Its all finished, 1" PVC overflow painted with Krylon Fusion. I had to one side longer because of the distance to the wet dry, does that matter?

Here it is inside the tank

Here is where I made it longer, it had to sit lower than the opening for the Wet dry, will it be okay that the water will need to come back up maybe 2" to get inside the wet dry?

levi... you should fell like an ass

i like to just drill my tanks ;)

Where did you put the check valves? and what kind?

Got a pic or drawing?

Dr Joe

Yep, got pic, will travel...errr, just sit here.

I didn't really do anything different in terms of the check valves. They are the tiny blue things on the top loop of each. The extra modifications are downline costomizations that I needed for each tank. Btw, I still don't have my pump issue resolved. Here is the picture:

And that is brand spanking new carpet under the plywood...so you know that I am still single :irked:

what would be a good size pvc piping for a 125? 1"?

Since you will be moving a lot of water it will be wise to use two. There is safety in redundancy. Just ask my wet carpet...

edit: I was agreeing with rally but was not aware of issues with larger piping...don't see why though

I forgot to answer that one...they are walmart specials and one of them does not seal well. My top tank overflowed during the trial run. The water volume was similar to turning on a garden hose over the carpet. My shut off is outside...go figure...If I were married my tanks would probably be on the curb.
