very interesting!!! I've always wondered how much filtered water goes immediately back up the intake ?!!?


does it have any impact on water flow/pressure/turn over, due to such a small impeller having to pull water a greater distance??


have you actually kept track of water parameters, and proved that it keeps the water cleaner longer ??

Cool Idea!

It's been a while since I've had an aquarium setup, I'm looking to get one soon. Have you noticed that you have to clean the filter out more often with the extension on the inlet grabbing the dirtier water?

i clean my filter weekly regardless, so i couldnt say. also, it really depends on your stock.

if you run your set up, the same as the one in the write up, it will pick up more debris from the floor, so if you are not cleaning your filter regularly, i would suggest doing so.

in regards to the stocking question (which has absolutely nothing to do with this thread) yes, "traditionally" it is too many for a 20g.
