that is some handy work!
I appreciate your saying so! (getting tired of starting posts with "Thanks")

I was a plumber for about five years before I went back to school. Also, I played with a lot of Legos and Capsela as a child. :)

Wow great thread. Lots of good DIY info. I'll post mine, sorry I dont have any really good pics yet of the whole thing, just bits n pieces.

240G display tank, twin 33G tote sumps plumbed into a single return pump.

BTW there is no wet/dry part since I inject CO2, entire sump is flooded.

I run two DIY filter boxes on the pump intake in each sump. they have about 1 sq ft intake area with filter floss, and maybe about 2 gallon volume of potscrubbers for bio media 9they arent completely full in the pics either, ran short). Total of 4 of these on the tank.

Silencer module I built. The drain comes into the side of the top wye which is at water level, water goes down and air bubbles go up (tiny vent hole drilled into top of cap). The bottom Y is actually sealed on the base (not visible in pic) and all the flow comes out the side through a fine media bag (catches coarse material, fish, shrimp, etc.).

I also insulated the sump tanks all around to try and minimize heat loss, but I have so much stuff now running into and out that I have not put the lids on so not sure how much good the insulation is doing.

Return pump is a Sequence Dart. I'll try to get some better pics showing everything more clearly...

Also pretty much everything is / will be automated, water change, co2, fertilizer dosing, etc.

Mines pretty embarrassing, but I made it so you cant expect much lol.
It's a 29 gallon tank one half is the Wet/Dry full off bio balls the other half is packed with ceramic rings and two sponge filters. It has a PVC overflow and the return pump turns over the tank 4x an hour... Oh yeah the tank holds something like 100 gallons..

Kinda hard to get a good picture of it because the tank is at the end of my bed, need to change my prefilter too...

The tricky part of the build was attaching the spray bar assembly to the framework without water flowing through the whole thing. What I did was drill out the two ½” tees with a hole saw (11/16” I believe) so that the pipes that feed the spray bars pass right through the tees. It worked out nice, the pipe fits tight in the tees so they hold it in place. It's kind of hard to explain, so reply if I didn't get it across...

I will try to take a couple closeups and post them, I THINK I can explain better what I did. :)

Let's see if I can explain this clearly.

The 1/2" pipe feeding the spraybars isn't connected to the tee, it goes right through it. Normally you can't push a piece of pipe through a tee, but I drilled through it so that I could slide the pipe THROUGH the tee. It is tight enough so that I can spin it to adjust the angle and it stays where I put it.
