so I like the idea of your sump but I'm just curious as to how many gallons your tank will be after you install the sump. what are the inside dimensions of where the fish will be free to swim?
i have just spent most of the afternoon going thru this entire thread.. and i dont regret a min of it. very well described build , great pics , and i cant wait till its filled and walter is in it...
thanks bushwhacker

The 'sump' regeon will be 13" wide by the entire depth and height of the tank, so internal dimensions will be about 7 feet by 4 feet by 30". Subtract an inch here and there for wall thickness and you have 82x46x30, or about 490gal of habitable water.
Thanks very much. The only real skill I had to apply here was patience though man. Nothing about this build was really technically challenging or hard. Just a matter of slowly doing, measuring 15 times and erring on the side of caution.
Damn that is sweet! Awesome job dude! It's time like this that I wish I stayed working part time for that constuction/masonry guy that Paid me $6.25/hr while I was going to college.
Yeah, camera = missing. Until I can find it you'll have to imagine
Nothing major. I coated the filter divider with black polyester, sprayed the eggcrate inlet thing with krylon - also black, and I've started sticking the filter dividers into place in the tank, but I'm outta silicone, so I'm on hold for a few days till it comes in.
I got the 225gal out of my garage tonight (finally) so I will probably have the family's vehicles in and out of the shop for the rest of the week doing brakes, fixing leaks, and so forth. I'll try to borrow a camera for the weekend if I haven't found mine yet.
