thanks ross ill be getting them once it comes time to build the top.. how many do you think ill need? i have 3 more coats of rubber to but on ill probably get it done tomorro, not much to post as far as pictures go. but i am on schedule as far as time goes because i wanted to be putting the glass in sunday or monday. it will be ready to test for leaks soon.. kinda nerve racking

thank.. theres still plenty more, got to make sure it holds water, then the sump, canopy, and finishing it all off to make it look real nice in the house. im hoping i can keep it up and that the last half will go as fast as the first. i have archery season coming up quick and that will put me at a stop from the middle of august to the mid of sept.

i have decided to scratch my original idea for my sump and build one out of plywood... 72x24x16tall at full it will hold just over 115 gallons but i won't ever have it over 3-4 full or wherever i find it is safe if the power goes off. my question is i shouldn't need too thick of plywood for the bottom and walls if its only 16 inches tall right? i will screw 2x4 length ways to keep it from bowing but if i am understanding how water pressure works there won't be much pushing out even tho it has the capacity to hold over 100 gallons. im going to get roughly half inch thick stuff monday unless someone stops me. will be putting 1x2 in the joints so i can screw into it from both rider and make the joints nice and sturdy then do 6 to 8 coats of liquid rubber to seal it

STOP! Dont waste your time and money on building a plywood sump. I built mine and it worked OK until it leaked. I never really liked it too much to be honest. My 50G Rubbermaid water totes where much cheaper and much much easier. I had about 7 coats of LR on my sump and still got a leak. Memember that every wall/divider you put in the sump will have to be screwed from the outside and then covered in LR on the inside. Imagine applying LR to the bottom of a divider that is sitting 3-4" off the bottom of the sump. Go toward the end of my build where I have pictures of me cutting the sump out....maybe that will help change your mind. Think 50G Rubbermaid totes with 10G Tots inside to hold filter media. I have 2 of these under my tank!

i have been told you can break your glass very easily if you lay it on its face and happen to slightly drop it onto the wood when getting your fingers out. is that why you placed it in first while standing up then layed it on the face?

Standing up or laying down get the suction cup things Ross suggested. I put mine in standing up cause I didn't have them and my stepson dropped the glass the last inch or so.. Heart stopping!

What a pain epoxying the dividers. I only had two, but painting with a mirror in one hand and the roller in the other... No thanks.

For my stand designthough, I had no choice but to go over tank.
