Theyre fairly rare in the US theyre more of a UK fish but in a few select lakes theres alot of them, they look like a trout x carp and they fight alot like trout

after a 16 hour car trip, i am home from tennesee. We went to reelfoot lake this past week for some crappie fishy. But the crappie fishing was crappy. I managed to catch a few nice ones in the first few days but got bored since the bite was slow. We tried a few new spots near the cabin and acutally ran into some bowfin (3-6lbs) and some monster bluegill (8-9.5"). Also my fishing partner with his first bass of the season the day before we left and mine came from tennesee. We also managed to snag a softshell turtle too. whoops.

Then the real fun began. They have a monster sized problem with asian carp there. Theyve turned it into a sport by ripping a weighted treble hook through the water and "snagging" them. There was so many there, i was able to snag too, with the big one at 17lbs though they get wayyy bigger.

Wow that carp is huge. They are invasive by you not introduced by state?

Na, just freshwater fishing for me!

I might go to the shore maybe once a year when my dad asks me to go!

I asked because when I lived in Long island once a yr I would go on those party boats for blue fish and would hear them speak of huge black fish they would catch from NJ.

I know Jersey during summer has nice beach fishing .

Went down to my "super secret fishing spot" and caught a good amount of tench and carp. In about 5 hours we caught:
24 Tench (averaging 5bs)
2 Carp (1x 7lb, 1x 15lb)
10+ Panfish (between 3-9 inches)

not sure to be honest, after i catch up on my school i was definitly planning on looking into it.

The state/area has a no release rule. Kind of like snakeheads up my way. Any caught should be killed. the 2 i caught has by no means put a dent in their population.

My nephew wanted to go fishing so we went out to "CNJ" at about 6:30!

It was cold and the wind was blowing but I broke the ice right next to the spillwell. I stayed on one shore line and my nephew walked all the way around the lake. My second came out the same exact spot as my first fish did! As we were headed in I was able to bang one off this tree we never catch anything from. When the buzzy came across the tree limb BAM A ecent 14"er straight killed it!!!

COld,windy but I still landed something, im a beast!!!

PS-I left my ohone in the car so no pics :irked:

No work today so I took my nephew out to "Farrington lake"!!

I had a small bass on my second cast but my nephew was able to land the first fish. My first came shortly after. The bite was pretty good all day long. My nephew used his favorite lure all day(spinner bait) and I will have to say on this cold day that it was more effective then my buzzy. I had more bites but his fish were bigger. The upset of the day came when a 4-5lb CP got off as I was swinging it in the boat. The CP jumped on a new member of my arsenal which is the "Money Minnow".

When the day started my nephew set out to out fish me. He did but it was all my fault cause I missed about 10 fish. This is only the second time he beat me this year so you know I had to hear about!!

17 bass caught in 8 hours with three 3 pounders and a bunch of 2 pounders, it was a good day!!
