Its way harder to catch big bass, the big CP's are fairly easy to find and catch!!! At "Farrington" I get bit off everytime I throw a 5" money minnow.
Most days we try to target lakes that have bass and CP's just cause the bass through out the day like to go hide. The CP's when they are out strike almost anything and are everywhere.
Alot of times like you said they be like 10-18"s but where we fish we get atleast a strike from a 3lb+ CP on most trips.
Me and Josa went and got some b-ball in for about a hour and an half then after ward he talked me into tring the river out. The river wasnt popping so after a half an hour we left and went to the cess pool in Robinsville,NJ.
The cess pool was murky as usually. The spinny is usually the ticket but I didnt have one, so I went with a black/red buzzy!! I banged a nice two pounder and two small ones. Josa coulnt buy a bite but soon as he tied on the spinny he was able to bang a decent one.
Crossed up a few early in the day then went and set some hooks, cant beat it!!!
D and I started out at "Etra Lake" around 11:45. The bite was pretty slow. I had to adjust and pick up the worm. I fished it finess style all day. The buzzy plucked a couple off but must of the fish came on the "dinger". The front was coming in and the bite was slow, so we gave up.
On the way home we pulled over on the highway and fished a swamp on Rt129. I have caught bowfin out of it before. Its Hard to land fish here through cause the water is about 15ft below. I had a bass on but it was able to get off as I tried bringing it up. Then I kept getting hit by this little bowfin(13-15"s) but I couldnt get a hook set.
Tell Jack I sad whats up once you get there. And dont forgt yall said atleast one five pounder a day will be caught. Ill be waitting to see if that happens!!
I've been trying different tactics at this hydrilla infested pond and have had some success. So today, I was like, since there is so much matted hydrilla in this pond, why not throw a BIG 7" senko and see what I can pull out. On the second cast, I felt the ohhhh familiar tick tick tick HOOK SET.....game on. Pulled out this lil feller. He sure wanted a big meal on the big senko. So about 20 minutes later, pulled it through a patch of hydrilla, and let it sit. TWITCH TWITCH from the rod tip, and THUMP!!!!! HOOK SET and some pretty good weight. REEL REEL REEL REEL and hear a big boil in the water DON'T COME OFF DON'T COME OFF DON'T COME get it up to the bank, as I am standing on an elevated concrete platform and see this bigger feller.....I hear that there are some bigger ones in there, so I will be investing in more 7" worms and weighted offset hooks in the future and see what else I can pull out of there. Here are the pics
First fish...he was hungry
Second fish
it went 3.13 on my scale. I left my tape measure at home, but this is my 7'3" mh rod that I had to get a gauge with and came home to measure and it was just right at 19"
