What area of south FL is this? im from pembroke pines, but never catch the monsters you guys pull out.

Truely sorry about you location, your on the Atlantic coast, we fish the beautiful Gulf coast which may not be beautiful must longer, thanx to BP. But we don't have the Peacock Bass that you have on the Atlantic coast.

Whats up MR.J.

I of all poeple now how much you love Florida and praise it BUT NJ indeed has 8 pounders! They dont get caught alot but we have them. Here is a picture of one that some dude caught at Manasquan Reservoir in April.

OMG, this Bass kinda looks like the 7lbs I caught last trip ;). I don't dought that NJ has at least one maybe two 8 pounders in it. I just dought the likey hood of anyone I, you or for that matter anyone else we know catching one. In NJ it's a dream, a fantasy that a few people have in Florida or for that matter NY, there are greater possibilities. My largest Bass ever is 12lbs 2oz, that's larger than the State record for all of New Jersey, DAM. But in Florida it's a good deal above avegage, dude I know this from personal experince, if it ain't over 5 pounds knowone cares in Florida.

The first Bass I ever caught in Florida was 5.2lbs, the first Bowfin aka Mudfish I ever hooked into snapped my 7.0 Bass hook at the beggining of the curve in the shank. But I didn't believe it either and changed hook package and tried again, and could not set a hook in a Bowfin to save my life. I could run the hook across my palm an draw blood but I could'nt get a hook set that held until I stepped back and reaccest things. Dude, I sh*t you not the first saltwater fish I ever landed in Florida was a 5ft scalloped hammerhead shark. And when people told me that's a Hammerhead I looked at the like the were crazy, but whatelse looks like that.

Sorry I personally think anyone who likes freshwater Bass fishing needs to fish in Florida. But you gotta know where to go, My god-son went with his gf family spent good money on a rod and reel setup and caught nothing but Blue Gills. Because he wasn't in the right areas and they where there to do Disney only, but he didn't know that Disney had a fishing park, but it wouldn't have helped they weren't there too fish.

Fish landed-I-0/Dennis-0/Jason(brother)-1

We wanted to do some lake hopping and the first spot was "CNJ". I couldnt buy a bite but my brother Jason was able to land a decent 15'er on the buzzy! Dennis wasnt able to land anything either.
The next spot ws supposed to be "Rosedale" but Dennis know how to get to lake that I had tried to find last year but got lost. The lake is on ETS's property. Well come to find out the day I got lost all I had to do was just drive alittle further. Anyway the spot looked like a million but it didnt produce a bite for anyone.
After that disappointing stop we headed around the corner to "Rosedale". The bite wasnt on there either but I did have a decent two pounder on but he spit the buzzy on the first jump :irked:. We all had a few little ones blow up on the buzzy but no one was able to land a fish :irked:.

I'm thinking the sudden VERY hot weather has but the bass in a SLOW feeding pattern.

My first shunk in a very long time but ha thats why I like fishing some much, cause of the challenge !!

speaking of challenges.

we were on a friends boat who didn't know the water well enough to wanna move around much at night. we finished the tourney with 10lb total weight for 3 catfish. we did what we could and weighed in, first place had over 40lb and a 22lb flathead for big fish.

im having a hard time locating the flatheads on my own river and these dc potomac boys have to show me how its done =[

its okay though. we had fun and caught some fish.

Fish landed-I-19/Dennis-5

Todays boat outting was "Mercer County Lake". We were on the water at 6am, we dont usually go out this early but I wanted to see if we could "Wake Site" some musky like we did last week. Well the water wasnt flat cause the wind was blwing but seeing how HOT it was I wasnt mad. The bass bite started out very slow and the first bass wasnt landed until 8am. As this long day went on I caught one decent two pounder but most of the bass were 10-12's. Dennis banged two bass and a yellow perch and I had 12 fish landed before I took a nap from 2:30-3:30. After waking up I got back to it and as we were making are rounds I figured it was time to pull out the 10" U-tail rigged Texas style. So as we came up to a rowing dock where they have rowing tournaments on Sundays I started throwing the 10' around the footings. On my fifth cast I felt that magic feeling TICK TICK-line walk. With a strong hook set I fought with a monster 4.9! The bite after that was SUPER slow until 8pm were we seen the bass get active.

A super long day but its ALWAYS fun to hit the four pound club!!!!
