Dreams, what rod did you lose over the rail last year? You actually lost one or the one that broke?

I hit the pass yesterday on my buddys boat. We got a late start but high tide was at like eleven anyway so no reason to waste time fishing during slack tide.

We got to the pass a little before noon and it was beautiful with just a little wind. The current for whatever reason wasnt strong and for the first hour we only caught one sheepshead and a few other trash fish. Finally the current really started ripping from the north to south going out into the Gulf but at the same time the wind decides that its still March and starts howling out of the south west. This created a big problem for us because we only had three oz sinkers and with the bait drifting south with the current but the boat blowing north east, we couldnt get to do the bottom in sixty five feet of water. Finally I said lets get up current, drop down, throw the boat into reverse to get the baits down. We boated a sheepie just about on every drift with that technique but the wind really started to pick up and we started to take waves over the transom so we called it a day with eight sheepshead and enough catfish to piss off a saint.

On the way in we hit a spot that we know holds snapper and grouper in the bay just for fun with our sheepshead tackle but after two drops and two drag screaming runs that only ends up with our tackle in the wreck we decided that was enough and called it a day. I didnt wear any sunblock and Im really regretting it today and sporting a nice wife beater tan line.

Nice sized carp Josh!
wish they where more easy to catch up here.

Went out with my friends boat today on the waters waters I caught my monsterpike last year.
Together we were only able to hook and catch 3fish the entire afternoon.
Althought we both expected more,it did not suprise us.
Pike,Zander and Perch are all breeding at this moment,so they are mostly found piled up in shallow waters.
Typically in March you got feeding days on which all fish are feeding and very easy to catch, and breeding days on which the fish aren't interested in lures or bait at all. Today was probably a breeding day and the wheater was nice so you don't hear me complain.

Although I did had one frustating moment when we where trolling at an area with a small bridge.
We have caught many nice sized fish under this bridge so you are really focused on your rod and all of a sudden I feel that there's something big on the other end of my line. After a hard pull somethig huge is beginning to swim sideways.
My friend and I where both expecting another monsterpike, but sadly it was an umbrella hooked on the handle.

That's nice Zander

i had a ****ing terrible day. got out on the lake stoked to be getting out on the boat this time of year on a trophy bass lake, first hit of the morning, big bass MURDERS the senko, i set the hook, get it bout halfway in, big girl comes up was every bit of 6.5lbs, opens her mouth and the hook comes flying out. It had hit about 15 ft from the boat, i looked at the hook and the weed guard hadn't unactivated so the fish never got hooked... i threw the hook away and switched it up, got another hit, felt like a dink, didnt set it hard enough - starting pulling the fish easily and all of a sudden however big the fish was realized what was happening, it ran straight down and came unhooked. The NEXT fish I saw it hit, was another easily 4.5lb fish, and when i went to set the hook as it ran with the worm to the left my line wrapped around my pole, and when it went slack the fish got off. Really frustrated. Great opportunity to learn a new lake and have a productive day. I was doing a friendly group meet/tournament thing and the first big girl would have easily won.... smh.... really disappointed in myself right now and first things first i am ordering new wacky rig hooks.

Flemming - Awesome Xander, I'm sure the bite will be back on soon. I really enjoy the scenery in your pictures. Looks beautiful there.

NC - just learn to fish and you'll be ok.... Na haha I'm jk. Sucks they got the best of you but that's what motivates us to better our technique and equipment. Better outings and fish are ahead. At least you got to feel some fish! I recently bought some Owner camo green wacky hooks to try at my cabin lake. Check those out. Thin gauge and super sharp.

Fishtician - freaking awesome walleye!! Let's hear some details.
