I am using 2x 160w 430nm VHO. These things are so blue they hurt your eyes. I seriously dont think its good to look at the tank when these things are on by themselves.

Hey guys, went up to a Rhinelander frag swap today.
Got a midas blenny from the small fosters and smith retail outlet, and also picked up a juvenile cleaner shrimp...really hoping to avoid getting an ich outbreak after I re-introduce everyone out of QT.
The swap was small, but they gave away free door prizes to everyone. Just a bag of the new instant ocean products. Two kinds of food, two water conditioners. Purple up, and a think of two lil fishies epoxy.
Not too shabby. Oh...and some betta food. That was random.
At any rate...I picked up a:
"Aquaman Lobo" (we have still yet to see its true colors, I think it might be awhile...this was purchased out of a table that just had all their corals in bags.)
"Ultra Awesome (or something like that) purple/pink tipped aussie elegance coral"
AND because I bought two frags I got some zoas for free...they looked like they were blue with a green center on his pictures, as it turns out, they look green with a blue center...so I will probably give these away.
ALSO got a "Dragon Soul" Favia
Considered a weslo, and a scoly, but got what was the most and best for the price...I will be getting those later.
We will record another video shortly (whenever I feel like it) and post so that you guys can appreciate the new stuff.
In other news, dosed the cupramine today for the tangs. Cant wait to get my chevron back into DT in two weeks...

Have you seen the new Pod cultures from Algagen? They are now retailing what I have been looking for for ages, calinoid copepods (aka ones that are always in the water never the sand or rocks) and they have like 4 different sizes. They will make an awesome addtion to live feeds added to reef tanks. http://www.algagen.com/ (look under aquarium/reef pods) this is going to make breeding fish so much easier. lol.
Let me know if you ever try these out...you would have to get a colony started in your sump where they couldnt all be picked off is the only thing.

Oh I definatly plan to, going to start a 5-10 gal culture of each and maybe more depending on need (once im running my 1000gal that is) and dose the MT regularily with them. The main problem with culturing them in the MT is that you need to dose with ALOT of phytoplancton (as food for the pods) as it would get skimmed off, also most people dont want phyto as it "clouds" the water, also a skimmer would kill alot of these, as some of them are tiny. So as a continuous culture in MT you could only really do it in a system with a scrubber instead of skimmer, and minimal mechanical.
Nice Coral pickup's - the aussies are pretty expensive round here. Always nice to get free stuff too.

I have just gotten the pieces together FOR a scrubber for my 125g. I skim heavily with an EV400, and I just plan on dunking my mats in the DT before I clean them off every week. This will give the tank a dose of pods. Granted they arent free swimming like the ones you want, but should work in my mind.

I paid 105 for a aussie head that was almost 3" in diameter, and a lobo head which is about 3" long and an inch wide. Plus the free zoas, which actually turned out to NOT be blue like they were on the bag, and are pretty much the same as some of the others I have in the tank.
Now has come the time for me to drop some coin on my last two zoa's and paly's that will be going in the tank. I want some hornets.
Good habit reading a label. The last place I worked had me working 40hrs a week, and all I did was stain wood with this green stuff by hand. Turns out it causes neroulogical damage through prolonged skin contact. My hands used to be stained green, and so were my shoes.
Who knows, maybe this is why I am funny.
I used to use sodium bicarb in my 75g reef...not anymore though. I wouldnt use purple up in a tank anyways.
