what type of gar is this? A local pet store has it for $25.

$25 is a good price for one of that size. as for tank size and other general requirements, please see the pinned topics and you can always do a search - plenty of info/details to answer those questions in the forum--

That one looks pretty big... make sure you do a lot of research here and have enough space.
 
so by hundreds of gallons, i'd assume 210 is too small then, correct? Oh, the fish is around 15" long. she said a customer brought it in, as well as this massive pacu. Felt bad for the pacu, it was in bad shape.

Technically is it true... Then again, depending on how big he gets him at first and if he's gonna have him for a long time in a grow out tank or get rid of him when he does growout of whatever he has currently.

A 210 is fine depending on the dimensions. A 180 is what is usually recommended for Florida gars, but the gar will definitely appreciate the extra space.
